Deep in December.

It was a very quiet day today in the neighborhood. Not even the birds were cheeping and there are usually a few of them out even in winter.
The fact that I need to put out bird seed might be one reason why.
I have a few cardinals and blue jays , along with black capped chickadees that stay the winter over and are so beautiful. The reds and blues against the dark cedars and pines is just wonderful to see.
They come and drink from the pond and eat berries that are left over and my seed if I remember to put it out that is.
I will make a point to get the feeders filled in the morning.
I guess the birds will rejoice for sure.

The song from the Fantastics, Try to Remember has been in my head today. I saw the Fantastics off broadway in the city a couple years ago and it was so wonderful. What a great show.
It remains one of my favorites.

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow,
Follow, follow, follow, follow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.
Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
The fire of September that made us mellow.
Deep in December, our hearts should remember
And follow.

Well we are deep into December and the year is speeding on by.
Have a good night.

  2. This is a whiny and emotional song that I listen to a lot lately. It makes me wish that I had been nicer to someone who shares your first name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A167S2Sxreo

  4. Hi Annie! I wish we had cardinals- they are so pretty and Christmassy! :) I just filled my finch feeders with thistle and have goldfinches hanging all over them. I have my peanut wreath full and the bluejays are snagging them. California birds don't have it all that tough but I still enjoy feeding them. That's a nice sng and I never really thought about that "Deep in December" lyric- guess that's where we are alright! :) (((Hugz)))

  5. It would be absolutely wonderful if you could let us hear you playing your cherished piano to the tune of this song. If you could sing the lyrics too, I'm sure that everyone would enjoy it!
