Food Meme on a Fall Sunday

It's semi sunny day but there is a dim glow that comes with autumn. Leaves are falling faster now and soon the trees will be empty of leaves.

Seanymph had this meme on her blog and I thought it would be nice to try it. She has wonderful recipes! She's a chef.. cool no?

1. What’s your #1 comfort food?
Meat loaf, rice and cooked tiny baby carrots.
I got a meatloaf recipe from the Kennedy's White House chef, a Frenchman, out of a magazine. It is the definitive meatloaf. I have lost the recipe but I remember all the ingredients and never met anyone who did'nt adore it.

2. If you were on a deserted island, what one food would you want to have with you?
Apple pie as long as I could make a nice hot cup of tea to go along with it.

3. What is/are your signature dishes? (What dishes are you ‘known’ for?)
Friends and family love my spagetthi sauce, my eggplant , roast beef, I make a mean pies both fruit or meat, meatloaf, chicken pot pie, fish Vera Cruz.

Those are what they request most.

4. It’s Friday night, you don’t know what to cook. You opt for…
Never happens. I cook Friday afternoon for both that night and Saturday every single week.
But in a hurry on any night, I throw together a quick pasta dish.

5. What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to food?
Eating it!

6. What food can you absolutely not eat?
Shell fish of any kind, cat fish, that kind of thing. ewwwww.

7. You need a drink. You grab a….
Homemade iced tea or a glass of icey cold water.

8. What’s the most decadent dish you’ve had?
I can't think of anything that fits the "decadent" category really.

My mother and grandmother could cook wonderfully and bake even better. My Mom's lemon merengue pie was pretty close. It was miles thick and all made from scratch. Delicious. My father would pack it in with both hands!

My grandmothers Shoo Fly Pie could be pretty decadent if you added whipped cream.

9. What’s your favorite type of food?
English, Greek, Italian run close.

10. Favorite dish?
Crispy Fried Eggplant with red sauce.

11. If your partner could take you to any restaurant you wanted, which one would it be?
I don't have a partner

12.Are you a soup or salad person?
Why can't I have both?

13. Buffet, take-out or sit-down restaurant?
Sit down.

14. What’s the most impressive dinner you’ve ever made?
Baby, even my oatmeal is impressive. I suppose, though ,Prime Rib,sauteed baby green beans and mashed potatoes.

15. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
I like what I cook and I always prefer my own cooking to someone else's.
Friends and family consider me a good cook. No one turns down an invitation to eat at my house. For my part, however, I find cooking a pain in the neck.

16. Do you know what vichyssoise is?
Yes I do.

17. Who’s your favorite TV cook? Lidia Bastianich from Lidia's Family Table

18. Can you name at least three TV cooking personalities?
Yes, ... Giada...the girl with the teeth, Paula Dean , who never met a recipe that didn't contain 90,000 calories per serving, and Lidia Bastianich.

19. Homemade or homemade from a box?
Either. Both legit. Both good.

20. Name 3 or more other foodies you are going to tag

Anyone can do it.It's a free country !

  2. Hi Annie! Great meme! I hope Connie sees that one! I think I'm a good cook but I always prefer to eat something that someone else has cooked! :) If I have a little separation from the cooking process, then I enjoy it more. I really have no idea what shoo fly pie is... shoo fly don't bother me? ;) Molten hot fudge dessert from Roy's- that's decadent! :) Enjoy the week ahead! (((Hugz)))

  4. Hi Annie, what a great meme. I agree with the girl that mentioned about you not having a partner and which restaurant you would love to go to, you could go with a friend or if your brave enough, even yourself. My all time comfort food is mac and cheese, it gets me in trouble everytime. I also love my Mom's cream of potato soup which she would make me when i wasn't feeling so good.
For decadent, anything chocolate, like chocolate cake, and the Molten hot fudge dessert that Darylynn mentioned sounds sinful.
That was surprising to hear that it's illegal in NJ to pump your own gas!
Have yourself a great day with great food!

  5. Interesting meme. I love to cook-most of the time-but cooking for French guests makes me nervous with their thousands of years of tradition. They always seem to like it though.
