Rest in Peace Sandy

My dear little pal passed away tonight at around 6:42.
For the last year, since my black lab Brandy passed away, Sandy has pined away. He went from chubby to skeletal thin. Nothing he ate put weight on him. I couldn't afford a vet anymore and so as long as he was bright eyed and able to play I let him be.
The last month however, he was throwing up a bit after eating. Not always, but enough that I couldnt keep even a little weight on him.
Then today he threw up a bit of blood and I knew he was going. He had a little stroke I think, went into a coma. Two hours later he was gone. Another friend lost in the fall.

This was a kitty who loved EVERYONE. Gentle, sociable, loving. Never stand offish or a loner. He was with his brother and his *dog*.
He stayed by his dear friend Brandy during her long illness.
He stayed by me while I worked. He was more than just a pet. He was a family member.
His brother, Garfield knew something was happening and is beside himself right now.
He will need a lot of love.
Everyone loved this cat. Even strangers who would come fell in love because, as they said, they never met animals like these who were so friendly and sweet.
It's true. They had sweet spirits . Garfield still is with me and also is sociable and sweet.

He and brothers and sisters were born in this dresser, in a bottom drawer.
Around 5 o'clock when he collapsed, I put him into a drawer and placed it on my piano bench so I could take better care of him.
<---This photo to the left is from last year when a drawer broke and I removed it to repair. He would climb up and sleep in the drawers.

Today he passed away quickly in the same drawer in which he was born.
I am going to miss him so doggone much.
How I despise death. What an enemy it is. I long for that day when it is no more.

Iyov (Job) 12 :You have only to ask the cattle, for them to instruct you, and the birds of the sky, for them to inform you. The creeping things of earth will give you lessons, and the fish of the sea provide you an explanation: there is not one such creature but will know that the hand of God has arranged things like this! In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the breath of every human being!
Tehillim (psalms) 50: For all forest creatures are mine already, the animals on the mountains in their thousands. I know every bird in the air, whatever moves in the fields is mine

  1. Hi Annie: I'm so sorry about your Kitty. He's lovely. It's so hard when we love our animals so much. Have as good a day as possible. Maybe a walk by the sea? HUGS

  2. Oh Annie, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty, Sandy? I believe. Maybe he was heartbroken over Brandy. I know animals get that way after losing a best friend too. He was gorgeous, and I loved his markings, the sweet thing. How old was he? Sounds ike you had him a long time. This is a beautiful tribute to him. It's so sad and heartbreaking to lose any of our pets. Most times they are closer to us that most people.
    Loved the prayers you posted.

Hope you got everything worked out on your computer problems too.

  3. Hi Annie,

I just discovered you few months ago on all your websites, and I like you so much! I am so sorry for the loss of your cat and your black lab last year. My black lab also died on May 1st this year and am still hearthbroken, I must say. But I still have his friend a cat of 12 years old whose name is Babou and he does his best to console me, such a big man he is. You should say a little word to the owner of The New Centrist blog who just lost his dog, and I think he needs a lot of support too
http://newcentrist.wordpress.com/2009/09/27/my-dog-passed-away/ You always have just the perfect words, Annie, and I thank God that you are there and writing for all of us. May we meet again our furry friends in heaven! Hugs

  5. Annie, I didn't read this till Sunday and am so sorry. I have an orange tabby that I am so fond of and know when I lose her I am going to be very sad as you are about your little one. My kitty's sister died a few years ago..young from heart problems..and it made even my husband cry. So we know your pain over here at this home. Blessings on you and yours.

  6. Oh gosh... so sorry for your loss. Death has robbed us of two wonderful dogs over the years. They become such great members of the family.

    Hope you are doing okay.

  7. Hi Annie! I'm so sorry about the loss of your kitty Sandy. So sweet how he watched over Brandy during her decline. And now poor Garfield is missing a pal. It's amazing how they become such a family- cats and dogs. And you're right, they all do know when something is wrong with the other and they worry. Jeff and I always say, "There's a disturbance in the force." (Line from Star Wars) Really a full circle story with the drawers. I have a cute photo of Kalani in a drawer and tomorrow I plan to post a photo of Hunter making himself at home in the baby's bassinet. I'm glad you still have Gasrfield. I always say a house is not a home without a curled up cat! Lovely tribute you wrote to Sandy! (((Big Hugz)))

  10. Hi Annie! Yes, we could smell the smoke... I walked out our front door and it smelled so strong. We went out on our back balcony and could see the smoke. I have a photo I should send to you when the whole hill across from our house was ablaze! That was the closest it's come to us. Hope you have a nice week ahead. I know how tough it is missing your little friend. How's Garfield doing? (((Hugz))

  12. Your sweet dearie will be sorely missed by all those who loved him...a sweet soul , indeed . All your animals have a gentle quality about them that sets them apart...they get that from you !
Take comfort that you did all possible for his comfort and he knew , without a doubt , that you loved him .
