The wind is blowing up like a wild drunken cowboy today and the fine green pollen is all over everything. Even the air takes on a green hue when the wild wind begins to blow.

Swamp Maples are scattering thousands of their little helicopter seeds over the whole world it seems . They are just everywhere and if no one mowed or cleaned them up the woods would deepen and grow thicker than they are all around and over us!

It has been hot here at 90°F some days and that isn't the problem , but the high humidity is. It can be like living in a rain forest on those hot muggy days. I am not fond of high humidity but this is a sub tropical climate and so we must bear it if we are to live here.

I want to design my own state.
It would have a warm ocean, crystal clear and baby blue but have absolutely no sharks, jelly fish or anything dangerous in it! Just adorable little tropical fish of various colors and degrees of cuteness!
It would be 70-85 ° from April to September and from October to April it can dip down to 65-40° but thats it.
A bit of snow may fall in December but no other time and there can be no slippery sidewalks or all bets are off.
Winds can blow and howl in October and early November as long as they create a nicely spooky, yet safe and secure environment.
Flowers of any kind, as long as they are edible and safe , may grow. All fruit trees will grown from April to September and produce tons of good fruit.
In fall they must show beautiful colors of bright red, yellow, oranges and golds.
In Winter the trees are required to sparkle and glint in the sunlight and just generally be very beautiful. It will be the law.
This state will have no ticks, no fleas, no mosquitoes and no stinging things of any sort and no income or property taxes.
Honey bees are welcome in droves however but they must not sting anyone.
The honey must be from Orange blossoms , Peach blossoms, Apple Blossoms, etc but mostly from Orange blossoms as that is my favorite kind.

I will call the state Paradise. What do you think? Any ideas on what you would have in your ideal state?

  1. Hi Annie,
Happy Cinco de Mayo ;) I want to live in the state you designed :) That does sound like paradise. We are having perfect weather here in So Cal in the mid 80's breezy and it cools down at night. I have always been very happy living in CA there isn't anywhere else I would like to live. Many places I would love to have vacation homes of course. I like the idea of your state with no taxes. Don't get me started on that lol Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.
    Hugs, Dru

  2. Hi Annie;

I'd be happy to live in your state of paradise. ;-} It would be perfect and of course no crime whatsoever should be part of the design.

By the way, today is a holiday in Mexico and it's called Cinco de Mayo meaning the 5th of May. It commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. While not an "obligatory federal holiday" in Mexico, it is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla, and in the United States. I think we could just about make a holiday over anything. LOL!

Have a lovely day my friend. Hugs

  3. How do I get to your Paradise ? NOW ?? The idea of safely bare footin' while wearing Summer clothes all year would be nice . No need for freezing air conditioning if there's no humidity (no more being the "Blue Girl " !) Cook outs are the meal prep of choice and backyard parties will abound...oooh , this is fun !
    Have a splendid day !

  4. Hi Annie! That reminds me of an assignment I used to give in school- I'd have the kids design an island and write all about it- draw flags, make the currency, etc. I was going to tell you about Cinco de Mayo but Toni already has. It's huge in SoCal. People think it's Mexico's Independence Day but that's wrong. It's what Toni wrote. Great excuse for some Margaritas, guacamole and a Mexican dinner. I'm all for any holiday with food and drink! (((Hugz)))

  5. My state would have no wind, ever. I hate wind. Lots of rain, wind and a dying tree resulted in a huge mess in our driveway yesterday-we couldn't get our car out of the driveway. What a mess.

  6. Hi Annie! I've heard from people in other places, like Michigan and the East Coast that Cinco de Mayo is not really celebrated. It is big here but what's funny is I had Mexican workers remodeling our bathrooms a few years ago and I was always buying them lunch so on Cinco de Mayo, I brought them a big Mexican feast and even some Coronas and they looked at me totally puzzled. They don't really celebrate it either. I guess it's a SoCal gringo thing. ;) (((Hugz)))

  7. Hi Annie, I love your Paradise and I loved Hawaii. We found this most beautiful beach and I was so enjoying myself when a kid screamed and his parents carried him out and sprayed something on him. Jellyfish were all around. Well so much for my moments of perfect paradise. Hugs

  8. Hi Annie....you certainly named your state right! So when will this state be ready for move-in??? I am putting my name in right now. :-) I can't bear humidity either. That's one good thing about living here in Vegas...etremely low humidity. Hope you have a lovely Mother's Day Annie. Sending big hugs!
