Summer is Moving Along

playroom
This is the cutest idea I have seen .
Its from a 1950's magazine and it would make a darling solution for keeping baby happy and corralled while you are doing your work.
There is a window to look out, toys, everything a child needs.
I was a firm believer in corralling kids and not allowing them to get into things and myself to be stretched to the point of exhaustion.
Somewhere along the line the idea that placing children in playpens is wrong. I never fell for that.

I have been vegging out in 100°F weather with high humidity and blogging has not been a priority so I considered it a bit of a vacation away from the keyboard .
I think most are doing other things in summer besides being glued to the computer also.
My tomato plants are yielding lovely , delicious fruit, my apple tree is loaded with apples and I gave away tons of fish, and now have more to get rid of.

Today was the first nice day in a while. After a short thunderstorm yesterday afternoon it cooled down considerably and stayed nice all today. Not sure what tomorrow will bring.
I am going to build a pot rack on the side of my kitchen pantry also. I decided that it would be a ladder style that will probably hold two pots per "rung". I think it will be very simple for me to whip up and I will photo it and show you once I have it finished.

Keep cool.

  1. Hi Annie;

I too was a firm believer in not giving kids free rein around the house Living in the Bronx our apartment was the first floor of a large home and at that time I had just 3 children, a daughter and twin boys. We had one room with two doors that we removed, added gates on both openings. One lead to the living room and the other to the kitchen. A window, no furniture, carpeting and all their toys in this 12x12 room. I was able to keep an eye on them from the kitchen or the living room. One playpen would not do. LOL!

Today was the first day in awhile that I didn't have the a/c or ceiling fan going. It felt good. Hugs

  2. Hello Annie, what a cute idea. I'm glad your weather has cooled down a bit, nothing like a good storm to refresh. I hope temperatures stay lower in your area.
    Have a great week, hugs

  3. Hi Annie, Hope your staying cool. Your apple tree sounds wonderful to have! Lot's of apple pies and apple crisps in the fall sound wonderful. I hope your rack comes out as nice as you want it to. I would love to see it when your done. It's so nice to just be able to grab a skillet or pan within reach instead of having to bend over to find it in a cabinet underneath. lol I'm thinking the older I get, the more I dread doing that.

Oh yes, I fully understand about changing the HTML in blogger, but there is a script in there that really does stretch your header, etc. It's different in the Google Browser. And as an example, I am in Google Chrome right now and your header actually extends beyond the body of your site. And your sidebars don't go all the way down as in IE. Oh well. It's just weird how the browsers do different things.

Hope your having a great day!

  4. Hi Annie! I 'love' that idea! So many neat things from the 50's. I never owned a playpen for my children - I didn't like them.

I am thankful that we don't have humidity here...high humidity & I don't get along! It takes it out of you. I hope you are feeling better.

Can't wait to see photos of your project! Sending big hugs your way Annie!

  5. Hi Annie,
I love that corralled place for kids to play :) Paul was in a playpen until he learned to crawl out of course. We have not had bad heat at all and I am in air at home and at both jobs so no problem for me. I am glued to my computer at work but in the summertime so mamy people are on vacations etc they don't seem to post. And I just find I have nothing to post about every once in awhile :) Hope you are staying cool.
    Hugs, Dru

  6. Hi Annie! I'm with you on playpens! We live in a trilevel with 2 sets of staircases and it's a pain chasing after the baby all day long. Ryan is good at safely climbing them. When we went to buy one when Ryan was a baby, I discovered the new politically correct term was "playards!" LOL! Guess pen implies penitentary or pen as in pigpen.

You're having the heat and we're having unseasonably cool weather. I'm guessing we're in for a hot Aug- Oct here in SoCal! (((Hugz)))
