Lunch at the Beach

Summer at the Jersey Shore..... always an adventure.
This is just a little sand shark, they don't do much damage. They can bite, etc. But usually they just feed on little fish and dead fish especially. And its not the sand sharks you have to worry about but the Great Whites and the bull and Tiger sharks that are the big bad boys and we have them too.
Sharks like to hang out on the deep side of sand bars because fish get trapped there.
People love to swim out to sand bars and walk around far out on very shallow water but sand bars can disappear quickly from under your feet and then you are in for it.
Anyway, here is a little 5-6 ft sand shark looking for his lunch.
Not one person offered him part of their picnic lunch either, poor little guy.
I bet he was scared seeing all those weird people.
All that "gravel" by him is crushed shells, not stones.

( A late Addition to the post: the famous anonymous kid told me that this is NOT a sand shark. She recognized the tail fin and said, No , this is a Thresher shark. Not so harmless after all.)

  7. Hi Annie, I think the movie Jaws was enough for me in regards to sharks. :-) Unbelievable that this shark rode the waves in, said his hellos, & went back out into the sea. :-)

I saw in your last post that you hadn't been feeling well. I hope you are better Annie. I've not been around to make visits, but try to blog faitfully...it's been a difficult few weeks for us. Love your yummy looking tomatoes - they are a favorite of mine too. Have a lovely week Annie. Hugs!

  8. Hi Annie,
I don't mean to rub in by no means our odd cool weather. It actually is beginning to freak me out just a little. If people don't beleive in climate change this has to sway them! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
    Hugs, Dru

  9. And to think, we used to surf fish there! lol Looks like someone was teasing it tho to get it on shore. But they say they swim in only 3ft of water so you always have to be careful.
