Dinnerware...

Royal Albert Old Country Rose
A

hat china or dinnerware patterns do you use? What are your favorites?
Do you use your good china often?
I use mine every week and have 3 special sets for  holidays.

Packing, cleaning, getting ready to move and store things I will not be using right now is keeping me busy.

The floors pf my little apartment are well on their way.
First a "deck" had to be built, now a sub floor will go down
Walls go up next, creating a small apartment for me.
Afterward cherry laminate floors will be installed and I suppose I will paint the walls.
At the end of the week the electricians are coming to move the fuse box , install recessed lighting and outlets for lamps, etc.
Now I have to weed and pick and choose what to keep. I have so many of my mother's antiques, etc.
I have a Victorian parlor set, a small sofa and one ladies chair and one gentleman's chair that I will probably take, along with my two china cabinets and a buffet table that was my grandmother's. As they are small in size they will go well in the smaller living room.

I have tons of books. I will probably tie them up tightly with cord and move them.
Today I am packing up my sets of china. First to get packed is Old Country Roses by Royal Albert. It replaced my Bavarian Moss Rose china that was all broken in an earthquake a long while back.
Blue Willow

I also have Blue Willow, which was my mother's

Winterwood
and a set by Pfaltzgraff called Winterwood.
That's not all. There are a few other sets too.

It is a big job.

Moving is a love/hate relationship as I am giving up a lot in the process and not happy about it.
If I was an old lady perhaps it would not be as difficult, but, I am not. Circumstances make it almost a necessity right now.  But then again, I suspect no one wants their situation to change whatever their age. And until I try I won't know if this is for the best or not.
Well, life can be a storm  but as my motto says, we learn to dance in the rain and you never can tell where you will end up in life.
And, I realize God can rescue me at any time.

Have a lovely Sunday!

  1. Hi Annie,
I never use good china anymore. All my Mom's went to my son and DIL and I forget what kind both are but the one pattern is called Desert Rose. I love yours very pretty. I can understand how you feel Annie I would not be ready to move in with my kids either yet. I know some day I will have to because I don't have that BIG retirement a lot of people do. I sure hope it all works out for you. Have a wonderful Sunday!
    Hugs, Dru

  2. Hi Annie;

Lovely china patterns. I had to give mine up along with all my belongings when I moved from NY to Calif. and don't really miss them anymore living alone and most of my family far away. I understand the feeling of leaving everything behind to go 3,000 miles away to live with my daughter. Both of us weren't ready for it and after 9 months I came back to NY. I know that my situation may not be the same as yours for you'll have your own apartment which is a good thing. I'm sure things will work out for you.

Have a lovely evening my friend. Hugs

  3. Hi Annie! I didn't realize you were moving... thjought your place was getting new flooring. I must've missed the other part. I think it's great if you're moving in with family. My mother lived with us. It was great having her... we never had to look for a babysitter and my kids loved having her always there.

I LOVE dishes- way more than I should for living in earthquake country. My favorite is my Portmeiron Botanic Garden. I also have Naif by Villeroy and Boch. I have their Christmas dishes, too. I have a white Dansk set (with scalloped edges) and another Villeroy and Boch set called Amapola. Fianlly, a deep blue set of earthenware by Heath. I also have random cups and saucers including Old Country Roses. (((Hugz)))

  6. I love your china..always thought it would be wonderful to have but never have. I am a plain person who mostly uses stoneware. Oh well. Hope the move is not too upsetting and that you learn to love where you go. Big loving hug!

  7. Awwww, I love your china, Annie! :) Simply gorgeous! My Mom have so many awesome sets (hers, her Mom's, her grandmothers...), and I too have one (brand new!), but I didn't take it with me in Scotland coz we do not have much space here. :(
Hope everything will go well with your move, and I am sure your family will love to have you there :) I had my Mom's Mom living with us and I am so glad I got to grow up with her. I sure hope it all works out for you. Have a wonderful weekend ahead!
