Good Night Irene

There is an old song called Good Night Irene.
"Irene good night Irene good night
Good night Irene Good night Irene
I'll see you in my dreams"

Well I sure hope we coast dwellers only see her in our dreams.

Governor Christie has declared a state of emergency for NJ, as have the governors of the Carolinas and Virginia, I am sure Delware and Maryland will as well.
They have hoisted small craft advisories along the coast.
Next will be hurricane flags.

We took a hit from the "Perfect Storm" back in 1991 . My backyard was part of the bay by the time it was done. There were 10 foot waves on shallow Barnegat Bay and so much was destroyed.
Our water this year is very warm which encourages and empowers hurricanes. I am pretty much right on the water and would appreciate your prayers for safety. As I have said before, there are some distinct drawbacks to living so close to the coastline. This is one major one.
My little house will withstand a big hurricane only by the grace of God, so I am relying on him to see me through and asking him to see all East coasters through this weekend in safety and health and with as little damage as possible. In fact I pray he will swing Irene out to sea.
If not, well, He knows what he is doing no matter what happens.

Until then I leave you with a peaceful photo of the Atlantic Ocean, all deep turquoise  and calm, showing her lady like side....
Atlantic ocean showing her sweet and peaceful side

  1. I was trying to think of that song's name. All I could come up with was "Come on Irene"from a British band 100 years ago (seems like it anyway).
Stay safe Lemon, I'm sure you will be fine, G-d looks after the good people.

  2. Was wondering if you felt the earthquake and I see that you did. We had a small one- 4.8 or so the morning we left Mammoth. There's a lot of seismic activity there because it's all volcanic around Mammoth. Hope you don't have too much problem with Irene. (((Hugz)))
