Rude?

HGTV has some great programs but lately it really should change the name to the Real Estate Channel. There are more real estate programs on than there are interior design programs.

I've been watching HGTV and have now reached my fill of watching greedy, ignorant, spoiled young couples whining about "upgrades", "it's sooooo 80s'" and "I have to have this and that and the next thing," and then going on to tear down other people's choices.
Spoiled isn't even enough of a word to describe these couples who demand everything and are willing to do nothing much. It is sometimes as if the world owes them a living.

When did it become fashionable to walk into someone else's home, that is up for sale, and cut it down rudely?
Comments like, "Oh, this color is abominable." "Are they serious? This is just sooooo 80's and dated."
"This kitchen is a disaster!"
Well, okay, have your opinion but keep it to yourself in someone else's house. How rude!

And kitchen madness! Oh I MUST have granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. That's very nice, though granite is stone and needs serious upkeep. It breaks  and is expensive to replace and it needs a very strong structure because of the weight.
And just wait until you try and keep the stainless clean once there are  kids in the house.
But, they whine and complain about what a house has and does not have.
If it doesn't suit you.. shut up and move along!
There are people in the world who would be grateful to have any kitchen at all and it's hard to hear these arrogant and spoiled people blab on about what they simply 'must' have. And consider that the folks who own that home have feelings.

Nothing wrong with renovating a home. If  people have the money and the ability, it is a nice thing. That isn't the point. It is the comments and attitudes that are awful.
People can buy what they  wish. I just wish they had some manners..
What do you think?
My rant is over!

  1. I completely agree. I hate to make hasty generalizations here but a lot of people 35 and under have such inflated egos and a warped sense of entitlement, I see it with my generation and it's sickening.

  2. Hi Annie,
That is why I don't watch reality TV except for Survivor. I feel sometimes that it is all an act for TV who knows what is real or not?? Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.

  3. This is so true. My husband and I are always commenting on how these people act. One of our big pet peeves is when they worry that a 2000 sq.foot home is not big enough for them and it is only the two of them! We raised our family in a home half that size with one and a quarter baths! Oh how spoiled we have become as a society.
