Dinnertime

Dinner used to be the term for lunch and what we term dinner today was called supper.  Things change over time don't they?

Here are my answers to this week's meme.

Do you prepare a menu for the week? Do you stick to it or are last minute changes a habit?
I used to. Now things are less structured, sadly, and I want that structure back.

Do you spend a lot of time planning menus?     Not anymore but I used to.
I have a favorite cookbook I inherited called  The Good Housekeeping Cookbook from 1960s which has menus all through it and is the best ever.  I used to use that to plan.
What is your family's favorite menu for dinner?
I always enjoy meatloaf with mashed potatoes and string beans.  My kids loved my enchiladas baked in the oven.
Do you eat out during the week? Regularly or is that a special treat?
I rarely get to go out to eat. Can't afford it and no one to go with really.

Is dinner simple or elaborate?       Simple!

Do you have dessert after your meal?   Not usually, but pie is what I love for dessert.

What beverages are served at the dinner table? Water most of the time. Iced tea in summer.
Do you serve different foods in summer and winter?
Yes. Hot comfort foods in winter and more green salads with egg, cheese or fish in the summer.

Hope you are doing well.  Have a wonderful evening.

  1. Hi Annie,
I just posted my answers to your meme :) When on the farms it was breakfast the biggest meal of the day and dinner at lunch and supper at night which was very light. My Mom's Mom actually use to cook this way even after they left the ranch they owned in Texas and moved to La Jolla, CA. I enjoyed your answers. Hope you have a wonderful evening and weekend ahead. Hugs, Dru
