Tuesday's Meme on Wednesday

Outside the sound of the crickets is subtle and sweet in the cool of the day.
I requested a cooler summer and I got it.
Humidity is low today and the temperature is a nice 78F. You could not ask for a better day.

Today I thought I would join in on Toni's Tuesday Meme and then post one of my own tomorrow.

1. Favorite Quote or Saying?
I am drawing a complete blank.  I think there might be just far too many.

2. Favorite Poem or Ode?
It is Robert Burn's  Flow Gently Sweet Afton though, like is not the word. It is, for me, bittersweet.
Flow gently, sweet Afton! amang thy green braes,
Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

Thou stockdove whose echo resounds thro' the glen,
Ye wild whistling blackbirds in yon thorny den,
Thou green-crested lapwing thy screaming forbear,
I charge you, disturb not my slumbering Fair.

How lofty, sweet Afton, thy neighbouring hills,
Far mark'd with the courses of clear, winding rills;
There daily I wander as noon rises high,
My flocks and my Mary's sweet cot in my eye.

How pleasant thy banks and green valleys below,
Where, wild in the woodlands, the primroses blow;
There oft, as mild Ev'ning weeps over the lea,
The sweet-scented birk shades my Mary and me.

Thy crystal stream, Afton, how lovely it glides,
And winds by the cot where my Mary resides;
How wanton thy waters her snowy feet lave,
As, gathering sweet flowerets, she stems thy clear wave.

Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes,
Flow gently, sweet river, the theme of my lays;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

3. Favorite Line from a Play, Book or Movie?

There are a few. Here are 2 nice lines I enjoyed.
1.Kathleen Kelly to Joe Fox on their computer conversations in You've Got Mail:
"The odd thing about this form of communication is you're more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many... somethings. So, thanks. "

2.James Garner & Sally Field in Murphy's Romance:
  James as Murphy:I'm in love for the last time in my life.
 Sally as Emma:  I'm in love for the first time in my life.

4. Favorite TV Show of All Time?
  They change with the times.
   Right now I am enjoying Sci Fi Channel's 'Haven'. I like the characters quite a bit.
I have enjoyed a lot of programs but, honestly, I can't pick just one but I loved so many when they were being televised like Spenser for Hire, Hawaii Five O.

  1. Hi Annie! I had a hard time with Toni's meme, but it was fun. I think for me, it's difficult to narrow things down to just one. I enjoyed your answers & the poem. I shared a very special one. :)

    Loved your language post. Ive been told I have an accent, but not sure what kind I would have. I dint hear one when I hear myself speak. Lol.

    Have a blessed day Annie. So glad that you got what you requested...a lovely mild summer. Maybe next year, you could request one for me too! :) Hugs

  6. Hi Annie; I loved Robert Burn's poem. James Garner and Sally Field in Murphy's Romance is one of my all time favorite movies. I agree that with most of the questions it's always hard to pick just one answer. Have a lovely day ahead my friend. :)
