Our National Hymn

Did you know that the USA has an official national hymn?
We do.
 It was sung in schools throughout the United States as part of daily opening services which included the pledge of allegiance, the national anthem etc., prayer and the reading of the psalms.
Those were the days of America's greatness.  When milk and honey flowed through the streets.  Actually there were photos from those days of actual milk being so plentiful that it had to be released in the gutters!
 And that was after feeding most of the rest of the world with it.
Corn and wheat was so plentiful it overflowed the silos and stood many feet deep in the surrounding fields.  Even after sending wheat to so many other nations we had more than we could hold!

Our blessings came because we remembered our Creator as a nation.

 Here are the lyrics and a rendition of our national hymn   by  the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

" God of our fathers, whose almighty hand
Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
"thy word our law"
Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies
Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past,
In this free land by Thee our lot is cast,
Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay,
Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense;
Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,
Lead us from night to never ending day;
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine."

Amen!

  1. I know this hymn but I didn't know it was our national hymn. I sure can't see this being sung anywhere public right now. I agree with you that blessings come when we remember Who gives them to us. Have a great day.
