Literary Pearls:
"At Bertram's Hotel"

“I learned (what I suppose I really knew already) that one can never go back, that one should not ever try to go back—that the essence of life is going forward. Life is really a One Way Street, isn’t it?”
― Agatha Christie, At Bertram's Hotel

“Yes,” said Miss Marple. “The children of Lucifer are often beautiful—And as we know, they flourish like the green bay tree.”

Read the novel or see the movie. Both well worth your time. Light reading in a good solid mystery by Agatha Christie. Does she ever disappoint? No, never.

Bertram's Hotel  has been a favorite stop for Miss Jane Marple since childhood but this trip she is troubled by the personalities of several fellow guests. As usual she can detect criminal activity in the moods around her and , as usual, she is right.
You will be right as well if you choose this Agatha Christie classic as your next read.

  1. One of my very favorites, Annie. I've not read the book but can almost recite the dialogue from the episode. This one is one of her best of the Joan Hickson series. I'm happy to see you here. I've been thinking of you and the storm.

    1. The storm was not too much on shore. The sea was rough and swimming was forbidden otherwise we were okay! Thank goodness.
