Winter

Winter began on December 21st and, now, has made it's full debut with a heavy snowstorm and icy cold temperatures.
The news is full of the storm but, it's typical winter stuff and nothing really special except for the 'bombogenesis' aspect which means that the barometer fell drastically in a very short amount of time.   If you are aching all over you know why now.
When storms approach you can "feel it in your bones". Not unusual. A physical feeling from weather and atmospheric pressure is how birds know to fly south or how animals know to flee from oncoming bad weather. It is how you know as well.

I am joining in with Friday Foto Friends.
Here is a short video of Thursday's morning weather and a few photos of snow around the property.

It was still snowing late Thursday night so this is just the beginning.
Keep warm, stay happy.

  1. Happy New Year to you! I enjoyed watching the snow fly. Hearing the wind, not so much. It's been a very long time since I've been serious snow fall country with snowdrifts to the rooftops. I hope you don't get snowed in for too long and that you have enough provisions on hand.

  7. WoW, that's hard for a southern gal to even imagine. Our weatherman referred to the weather up there as a winter hurricane!!

Today is Friday...14 degrees....windy...snowed in.Whatever was shoveled early yesterday has wind-driven drifts, waist high in places. The mini electric snow blower purchased last year and ignored until today, came with interesting assembly directions-translated badly from another language, with a mixture of gas fired and electric engine directions...sigh...
    Be safe,well and warm,my friend !

  9. That poor little red bird bracing itself in the snow storm! Here in Northern California it has been pretty nice weather (in contrast to last year) - during the day in the sixties. Of course 20 min. further up my mountain the snow has been up there for at least a month.

  10. Your snow pictures are gorgeous, Annie. We do have snows comparable to that at times, but the last two winters have been extremely mild for us. You were part of the storm that came up along the eastern coast. That is how our son in Maine ended up with a foot of fresh snow on top of the snow they already had. They live about 30-40 minutes from the coast. While we didn't get all of that snow my bones definitely felt it yesterday. I hope you are doing well now.

  12. Never seen snow like that. I was in Denver in 1968 when it snowed, but it seemed peaceful. Stay safe and warm. Hugs

  13. Happy Wednesday evening Anne. Still down with remnants of the flu. Even with medication it still seems to linger on. Great photos and video of this year's horrible snow storm. I'm not a fan of winter as you know. Hope all is well with you my friend. Be blessed and keep warm.
