Spring Has Sprung

Spring is making herself known here by the seashore but in subtle ways this  year.
Slowly but surely temperatures are rising a bit and flowers are beginning to show themselves.
The ponds are a mess and in dire need of work and I have a ton of work cut out for me and no one to help. EEK!
Here are some photos of the emerging springtime for Friday Foto Friends, hosted by Debbie at Breathing in Grace.
I hope you enjoy them. Click to make them larger.

The final snow storm of 2018 left quite a bit of snow. This photo was taken during the storm in the evening.

Daffodils seem to be one of the first plants to show their blossoms off in spring.

It seems that Vinca vine can stay green even in the worst of winters.. at least parts of it. It begins growing aggressively as soon as there is a hint of warmth in the air.
It grows under the porch and peeks up through the steps which need a new coat of paint.
Any volunteers?

Rugosa or beach roses grow wild in the area. There is one equally as mammoth in the backyard.
They are both white roses when they bloom.

Violets and wild strawberries grown in the backyard which is mainly sandy soil.

More Vinca growing like wildfire all around the house.

Mountain Pinks are growing around the pond, under the rocks and all along an old overturned planter. Its wonderful stuff and just beginning to bloom.
My grandfather grew an entire hillside of the stuff in various colors. It was awesome!

Did you think I'd forgotten the bay?

Gulls seem to like getting their photo taken.  I find them to be a bit hammy. They will pose at the drop of a hat.
If you run inside to get a can of tuna or salmon to share with them, they will love you forever.

Here is the table setting from last weekend when I had fellow Blogger Katy over for dinner.
The little set the table this week and was very proud of her candle additions.
The menu included fried chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.
The butter dish top broke. I am searching Etsy for a new one :)

So, how was your week?
Until tomorrow, God willing and the creek don't rise,

  1. Firstly, dinner looks amazing and the little set the table very nicely. I shouldn't read posts with food before bedtime, lol. Your area seems to be recovering very nicely from the recent snow storm. I'm always amazed at the hardiness of certain plants. Have an awesome weekend. xx

  3. Love the beautiful spring table setting! Tell your "little one" that she did an amazing job! She's been well trained. Love that your flowers are starting to bloom and that spring seems to be springing all around you!! I know you are ready for it! Wish I could come help you paint your steps! That would be fun!! I love that you entertained a fellow blogger! How delightful for both of you!! Enjoy your warmer weather and sunshine!! Have a blessed day.

  4. By the way, your painted headers are always so beautiful. Have you ever thought of publishing them? They would make a wonderful calendar or book. Maybe you should contact LANG co. and see about a calendar opportunity. They make such nice calendars from real artists like yourself!! Just a thought. I'd love to have one! Your paintings are superb!!

  5. Yet another gorgeous header... You're so talented! Ms. Katy sure was blessed with an amazing meal.... all Southern favorites... at least for this Southern gal! Great minds think alike since we both shared pretty flowers today. We've got lots of sprucing up projects around here, too...painting, cleaning, etc. Maybe we can hire the grand boys. ☺ Hope you have a great weekend! 💜

  6. I loved all of your photos today, Annie. I know what you mean about the Vinca. We use it as a ground cover on our bank out front and it so pretty. I enjoy their bloom a lot. I've planted some grape hyacinths here and there among it and I love the different shades of purple/lavendar.

Our daughter and son-in-law lived in Elkton, MD when they were first married and we spent some time along the Bay because they were so close. I understand what you are saying about the Gulls. :-)

The Little did a great job with the table setting! She must be your understudy because she did well in her selection...and the candle light is a nice added touch.

  7. Very beautiful photos, Annie! Nature is winning back its rights (maybe too fast for some plants) and snow is already forgotten! I leave the can of tuna to the gulls and would rather enjoy the mouth-watering meal you prepared sitting at your welcoming table! I wish you a nice weekend! Sandrine
