Rainy Days and Haiku

Rain and thunder break the quiet on an early, sleepy, Wednesday morning.
The sound of the weather outside reminds me to seek safety from the only source where it can be found.

Wednesday is also Haiku day. Another quiet source for peace and reflection.

How far these fields
 of flowering mustard run.
 East to the moonrise
 West to the setting sun.
 ---Buson

Lighting one candle
 with another's flame
 At dusk in spring
The same,
 yet not the same.
 ---Buson

 A sudden downpour!
Thunderclouds cracking!
And round the farmhouse
all the ducks run quacking.
 ---Kikaku

  Come again and visit please.

This post was originally put up on June 3rd, but received few visitors so I re-posted it this week.

  1. Lovely !
I find the sound of rain (without the percussion section !) to be calming and easy to fall asleep to ...so impressed with your ability to so wonderfully match photos to featured Haiku...
    Brava !
    Be well , my friend...
