Saturday 9: Two Black Cadillacs

It is midnight. I am a bit better tummy wise. It was a rough birthday to be sure but perhaps the worst is over now.  It rained most of the day and will be cloudy    I am joining in with Saturday 9.

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Two Black Cadillacs (2011)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune?     Hear it here.

1) This week's song is about two women who share a very dark secret. Are you good at keeping secrets?
Yes.  I take it seriously.

2) Carrie Underwood's favorite author is Stephen King. In fact, she credits King's Christine as an inspiration for this song. Have you read much Stephen King, or seen movies based on his books?
I do not like Stephen King at all.   I find him a bit creepy and dark.   There is so much creep and dark in the world that I don't feel the need to read or view things about more of it.

3) Carrie first came to America's attention when she won on American Idol. Prior to competing on that show, she'd never been on an airplane. Crazy Sam takes at least one round-trip flight every year and pays using the miles she accumulated from credit card purchases throughout the year. Do you try to earn miles, points, or cash back when you make purchases?
No.  I pay with cash for whatever I buy.

4) Black is this week's signature color because November 25 was Black Friday, when retailers historically have slashed their prices and the holiday shopping season begins. Have you begun your gift shopping?
The 25th was my birthday.  I was too sick to enjoy it though.    I have bought one gift  so far.

5) Black Friday began as a local event initiated by store owners in Philadelphia back in the early 1960s. When you think of Philadelphia, what comes to mind?
It's the city across the river.  Been there many times  and I always think of Ben Franklin and the fathers when I think of Philly.

6) Black Friday always comes after Thanksgiving, a day of feasting. What was the best dish at your holiday table this year?
Frankly my family is sick of Thanksgiving.  We all hate turkey and most of the food associated with it.
Next year we will change course.   Most of us ate very little because we just don't enjoy those things and  until now no one wanted to admit it.
Next year Filet Mignon, Jacket Potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Maybe even roasted Cornish hens or  Cherry glazed chicken! woo hoo. Much nicer I think.

7) Thanksgiving is also a big day for watching football. Did you watch any games?
I ate a very little and promptly fell asleep because I felt so sick.

8) What are you thankful for this year?    Life as always.

9) Random question: You're in a public restroom and have a choice between paper towels and a hot air hand dryer. Which do you choose?
Paper towels.  I like to feel dry which I feel the paper accomplishes better than the dryer.

Thank you for visiting.    Come again.

  4. Oh, I'm sorry you were sick for your birthday. My daughter's family has all been down with the flu for the last week. They have actual influenza A and it seems to be a tough strain this year.

  5. Happy belated birthday. We opted for steak this year, much less mess and just as satisfying as a big meal. We don't eat steak often so that was a treat (my husband loves it. I can take it or leave it.).

  6. I hear you about Stephen King. The only one I read was Cujo, and that cured me of reading his novels.

  8. Happy Belated Birthday! I am so sorry you were sick. It seems to be going around. Our grandson Colton is a long distance truck driver. He is home with the Chinese poison virus. Seems like many are getting flu bugs and such. Please take care.
