Thunderstorm

It's getting later , the sun is down and I can hear the distant rumble of heavy thunder through the open window. The breeze is cool, almost chilly in fact, and so I would imagine we are due for quite a good thunderstorm tonight.
I like the look of the world on sunny days but I also like it when a storm threatens , as the rolling thunder nears and you are safe inside. I like the feeling it brings. It's a good time for tea , a good book and a comfy chair.

It's a good time for contemplation and reflection of the day too almost as if the storm tells us to slow down and take a breather from our activities.
There is so much beauty around us in every kind of weather it would be a shame not to take advantage of it .
The big dog down the road is barking at the thunder as if daring it to come to his house. He is on the watch. Beware! The shower of chilled rain is falling in the water plip plopping gently and the trees are swaying in time to a slight breeze that encourages them. I know that the frogs in the pond are enjoying the rain. They seem to really revel in it.

When the storm is gone and the new day beings, there will be time for walk here. This little path leads to a nice beach where you can sit and think quietly and maybe even eat a bit of lunch.
It is another opportunity to enjoy what each day has to give.

Right now there is lightning so off the computer I go 'til next time.
Good night.....

Got the Quiz idea from Toni:

You Are a Creek

You are a dynamic, energetic person. You tend to change quickly and often.

You are spirited and gleeful. You believe it's important to live a colorful life.

You are also quite brave. You are able to look past your fears.

You have what it takes to be very heroic. If the opportunity arises, you can use your strength.

  3. I'm looking for a good book.... any suggestions? I've read just about all of Ken Follett's books lately, but am getting close to finishing the last one, and I'm desperate for a new author to fall in love with.

  4. Hi Debbie, besides reading religious books, which I do over and over again, about the only thing I read is Robert Parker novels: Spenser and Jesse Stone.
I used to read Agatha Christie because I enjoyed the mystery.
I think I would like to read the Legend of the Seeker series.
I will have to look at Follett's books and give one a read!
Would be good if I asked on the blog what recommendations people have.

  5. I started by reading Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth (which was an Oprah Book Club thing, although I never listen to Oprah.... this time I did). then I got hooked, and had to read all his books.... the Pillars of the Earth and follow-up book are incredibly long, but I couldn't put them down. He also has a great website, ken-follett.com
I also recommend Sarah Dunant (a beautiful historical writer) and Ruth Rendell's books if you like Agatha Christie, you'll love Ruth.

    Happy reading
    Debbie

  9. Hi Annie! I'm sneaking out late trying to visit. Been so busy and had Ry & Jake here today and they'll be back tomorrow. The painting over the fireplace is called "The Christening" and it's by Wooster Scott. The Naif style is one of my favorites. I wonder if teaching elementary school has anything to do with that? :D (((Hugz)))
