There is something lovely about a nice hot bath on a cold autumn night after a busy day isn't there?
Growing up our home had an old claw foot tub and I loved to fill it to the brim and sit there until my toes were like prunes.
Can we discuss the secrets of the bath?
1.Do you take baths or showers? Is there a reason you prefer one to the other?
I no longer have a tub. I have a walk in shower with a chair so I don't have to stand too long.
Growing up we had a deep claw foot tub that was ideal for soaking but, once I had the opportunity to have a shower I loved it!
2. Once a day shower or bath or do you have a different schedule?
I shower about every other day. Daily if I work hard or if it's a hot summer but otherwise I don't need a daily shower unless I want my skin to fall off. I just don't really sweat.
3. What are your favorite soap and shampoo?
Dr. Bronner's soap and natural Ivory. Most other soaps and shampoos harm my skin and hair very much.
4. Back in the day many loved Jean Nate spray after a bath. My mom enjoyed Avon's Skin so Soft.. what do you like in the way of skin creams, oils or sprays?
I use a natural lotion on my arms and legs. I use castor oil on my face and hands and feet. I grew up using olive oil around my eyes and so I have no crows feet or lines so I think it works nicely.
Thanks to everyone who has joined in and if you didn't it's never too late to join in!
I like Dr. Bronner's soap, and if I didn't have a source for the Goat's Milk Soap that I use, I would probably go back to using that one...the lavender scented one, of course! I never thought of using castor oil on my face/hands, but, hey, if it works, then so be it! I know that especially in winter up north, you need to stay properly moisturized. My feet especially still get cracks in the heals, etc. in winter, so I have to use stronger lotions on them in winter...my hands too, especially the fingertips get cracked. I may have to try the castor oil idea this winter and see if it helps. Oh, and I love your new shower. I remember seeing the pictures when you got it finished. Wondering now about your kitchen...it is a work in progress yet? Take care and enjoy you lovely fall weather.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know to use castor oil on my face and hands, it makes sense though. I also never knew to use olive oil around my eyes. It's a little late in the game for me but maybe I'll try it anyway. Fortunately, I don't have many wrinkles but I still manage to look my age. :( Hope you have a very happy and blessed day.♥
ReplyDeleteI cook with olive oil, but don't really care for the way it smells. I like coconut oil more. You are lucky not to have many wrinkles. I have never used castor oil. I had a biopcy on my face and now I have a scar. I have to have a nitrogen freeze to go over it to cover the margins. I don't like it because I have always had good skin. But don't want cancer! Maybe I will try the olive oil.
ReplyDeleteI cook with olive oil too . My hometown was mostly Italian and all of the grandmas rubbed olive on on their hands. I found out its closet to natural body oil.
DeleteHi Annie, I'm glad you have a walk in shower with a seat. I want one of those too! I don't use olive oil on my skin. I did many years ago but only for a very short time. I've recently started using the castor oil even though I think it's so sticky. I like Castile soap also and for the most part I use products without scents added. Enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI want a walk-in shower like you have with a seat. Maybe someday. Loved your answers! Have a nice week. <3

Good Morning !
ReplyDeleteSo nice to visit here...always something interesting to read about !
I'm also a fan of castor oil ! Now that I'm "vintage" , lol , my eye brows and lashes were getting pale and sparse . When I applied the oil , they began to grow in again !
To avoid some of the stickiness , moistening my face first with a damp washcloth , putting a drop of oil onto moistened palms ( and spreading it around) , then patting it onto my face , seems to work for me .
Have a splendid day !
I enjoyed your answers. I have used coconut oil as a moisturizer
