Hello! It's time again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and I am happy you stopped by to join in.
This week's idea for questions came from Pamela Steiner and it's all about your occupation and work.
I think that's a great idea, so here are questions for you to ponder.
1.What did/do you do for work and how long did you work in that position?
I worked in a 5and10 cent store, a corner grocery, a chemical company and as a medical technologist.
2. Of the jobs you've had throughout life, which was your favorite? If no favorite, which was the worst? Tell us why you loved/hated your job.
Actually working at Woolworth's 5and10 was my favorite. I worked on check out and I enjoyed the customers. I especially liked the senior citizens who came in on Tuesday for the discount day and to have lunch. For some it was a big day out!
3. What did your job entail?
Here is what the internet says: "A medical technologist (also known as a clinical laboratory scientist) performs complex analysis on blood, tissues, and body fluids to diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases. They operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, ensuring high-quality control and accurate results for physicians. Perform tests in areas like microbiology, immunology, hematology, and chemistry to identify bacteria, detect cancer cells, or analyze chemical content
Did it require a special education? Yes, it does and you must pass a state exam and be licensed by the American Society of Clincal Pathologists.
4. List all the jobs/occupations you have had.
worked in a small variety store at age 14, worked at a chemical company, worked at Woolworth's, worked at a small corner store/gas station, worked in a medical laboratory.
You've had such an interesting career path, Annie. I loved hearing about your journey. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there was a lot to learn in order to be a medical technologist. I was 16 when I worked my first job, if I remember correctly you had to be that old to work anywhere in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI think I would've loved working at Woolworth's. I used to LOVE to go there for a hot fudge sundae with my Mom. Or a chocolate soda. Medical Technology sounds like it could be very interesting...discovering things that no one else can see...it's very rewarding and challenging at the same time. People's lives are at risk if the answers can't be found. Thank you for the work you have done! This was interesting...and you are very interesting!!!
ReplyDeleteYour pathology job sounds so interesting! Was it your last job? I mentioned Woolworths on my post too.
ReplyDeleteI always think working as a medical technologist as an interesting job if one is more introverted. It sounds like you're more extroverted which is why you no doubt enjoyed working at Woolworths. You reminded me that when I was a kid growing up, mother would take us to Woolworths once a month when we went out shopping. I especially remember the back to school shopping expeditions. It seemed so exciting going shopping then going to eat and have a soda. We didn't have a lot of stores or restaurants in my small town but as a kid I didn't really notice that. Whatever we had was enough.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite work , in all its forms , involved interacting with and helping people .
