Joan Hickson as Miss Marple

Joan Hickson as the beloved  Miss Marple
People talk  quite a bit about their favorite Miss Marple and I was always of the opinion that I like  them all just the same. Lately, however,  I have decided that I do indeed have a favorite.
Joan Hickson seems to embody what my mind's eye sees when I read Agatha Christie's Miss Marple stories so I will have to say she is my favorite.
She reminds me of my grandmother, of blessed memory, in demeanor and personality. Always well turned out but with a home spun style. Her mind and wit as sharp as a tack.

Want to watch along with me? That would be nice but be sure to expand the screen.

This episode is a favorite:

  1. Hi Annie; I'm finally back online after 3 days of being away and computer problems. All is back to normal again.

Joan Hickson was and will always be Miss Marple to me. I have all her Marple dvds and Bertram's is one of my favorites too. The other is Nemesis. I can't count how many times I've watched the series and read the books.. LOL!

Have a blessed day ahead dear friend. Hugs

  2. Looks like you and Toni and I are in a club. I adore Joan Hickson's Miss Marple and have all her DVDs. I Bertram's Hotel and Nemesis are my two favorites too. She and David Suchet as Hercule Poirot make up much of my TV viewing! Have a lovely day.

  3. I'm thinking there's something lacking in my life. I have never watched Agatha Christie and from what I'm reading, I think I'd better check her out. Never too old to learn something NEW! right?

  4. Oh, I agree, Joan Hickson is the best Miss Marple, plays her perfectly. Oh yes, and I love David Suchet as Hercule Poirot. I have to laugh, my hubby gets a kick out me liking that show, he can't understand the accent! LOL Hugs!

  5. You have to know that Agatha Christie is my favourite thriller writer, I've read my first book at the age of 11, it was 'Miss Marple at the Bertram Hotel' and I soon felt conquered by her style ... now we have every book she wrote and the whole collection of the DVD of the films that have been realized and without any doubt i do think that Joan Hikson is perfect as Miss Marple ... Since I know her I've been wishing to know such a nice 'granny', such a kind and clever old lady, I envy you who have had the fortune to live beside your grandmother that was so similar to her !

Have a joyful day, my dear and sweet Annie, thank you for this lovely post !
    With much love ♡

  6. I like all of the actresses equally myself. I watch Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot a lot here, all dubbed in French. I love looking at both the architecture, the clothing and the jewelry.
