Minute by Minute

Hi friends.   Work is beginning on my kitchen. What needs doing? Well, the sink is rusted and very old. The edges are dangerous and chipping off.
The countertop around the sink is damaged from water and has sunk down a few inches behind the sink.  The floors tiles are broken.  So we are ordering the new
counters this weekend, a new sink, faucet, paint for the cabinets etc. The sink will be moved to beneath the window which is 50 years old and no longer able to open and must also be replaced.
We will be doing the work ourselves but will hire someone to come in and take up the tile floor.  Then I will put down a waterproof vinyl wood look floor
Here is a photo of my kitchen with the new flooring shopped into the picture.  Kitchen looks pretty good right? That is a testimony of how some good strategic photography can disguise things really well.   The sink and countertop around it are in very bad shape. The bottom of the sink is rusting through.  The plumber said the sink will not last another month and before it can be replaced, the   counters must be replaced!

Floor planks are called "Albany Park"

Meanwhile I am joining in with Saturday 9.

Sam says: "Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is
that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!"

Saturday 9: Minute by Minute (1979)

Unfamiliar with this week's song?     Hear it HERE.

1) It's easier to keep track of the minutes if your timepiece has a second hand. As you answer these questions, are you wearing a watch or can you see a clock that has a second hand?
The only clock I see from my desk is the one on the computer.
2) In this song, Michael McDonald admits he knows his girl has lied to him. Do you suspect any one of your friends/family has fibbed to you recently?
Yes.   I say nothing but I always know.
3) McDonald's big break came in 1973 when he joined Steely Dan's touring band. What do you consider your first professional success?
I saved a patient's life.
4) In 1975 he joined The Doobie Brothers. He was originally supposed to be a temporary replacement for Tom Johnston, but he ended up working with the band uninterrupted for seven years. Tell us about something that's happened to you that turned out better than you anticipated.

5) In 1986 he guest starred on an episode of The Young and The Restless. Have you ever been hooked on a daytime drama?
I did watch a couple in my time, yes.  I miss those days. Life was better.
6) Michael and wife Amy raised their family near Nashville, where they had their own pond and a garden they lovingly tended. Do you enjoy yard work?
Yes , a lot!
7) In 1979, when "Minute by Minute" was popular, movie star John Wayne died. In 2004, the US Postal Service honored him with a stamp. What was in the last envelope you stamped and dropped in a mailbox?
A Card.
8) In 1979, the most popular new car was the Oldsmobile Cutlass. Ads promised drivers the Cutlass could make it easy to get in and out of tight parking spots. Are you good at parallel parking?
Well, I never had a huge problem but I avoided it as much as I could.
9) Random question: Did you know your great-grandparents?
No. They passed before I was around.

  1. I know you'll be so happy once your kitchen is all fixed up, Annie. We had our kitchen remodeled (counter tops and sink) about 15 years ago and we have truly loved it ever since. Blessings!

  4. The new kitchen is going to look great. I love those floors! Ours needs done, too. The cabinets are awful. We picked out some hickory ones at Lowes and counter tops, but nothing has moved forward with Tim feeling so awful. Now that his procedure is over I'm hoping the therapy will have him feeling better and he'll be able to get it done after Christmas with some help from our son-in-law.

  6. I am SO happy for you to finally be getting your kitchen remodeled/repaired. You will love the vinyl plank flooring. That is what we have and we really like it. I can't wait to see how it all looks when done. I am SO happy for you as I know this has been a problem for a long time. I enjoyed your answers to the other questions too. Yes, saving a life is something to be very thankful for. I wonder if the patient ever knew or realized what you did for him/her! Amazing. I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend.
