My lawn got mulched. Since I live between the woods and the bay, I get a ton of leaves front and back. and when I say a ton, I mean a ton.
After they were mulched (which saves the eggs of lightning bugs and other good insects) I saw that my lawn was completely dead and brown. It's been so long since we had rain. The reservoirs are almost completely dried up at this point. I am praying for rain. Soon it will be time to perform rain dances.
Last night Windy.com showed us getting a deluge but if 5 drops hit my air conditioner, that would be a lot. Nothing. Zilch. So let's just go ahead with Tuesday 4.
This dog exemplifies how I feel about most things |
Do you keep busy all the time? Many people don't take time to smell the roses. What about you?
1. When was the last time you sat down and relaxed and allowed the weight of the world to melt away?
My family said I was always on the go and never sat down for a minute. Now sitting is enforced by disability but, I still manage to relax which, in my opinion, requires more than just sitting. It is a state of mind.
2. what things do you find most relaxing ? How often do you get to do these things?
I find watching trains very relaxing and I do it very often. Since I no longer live a block from the railroad as I did as a kid, I watch online live railroad trains in La Grange Kentucky where trains travel through the center of town , Fairport New York where the busy rail line runs parallel to the Erie Canal and church bells peel every hour on the hour. And I am a fan of Revelstoke Canada and the wonderful old steam trains which run from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to Paradise Penn.
I get to do that daily if I want!
I also avoid the news and find that to be imperative for relaxation.
3. What things wind you up and keep you from relaxing?
Politics, news, and a lot of music. So what do I do? I avoid it.
4. When was the last time you treated yourself to something, anything that is special?I bought myself a few bags of unsalted Kettle Chips.. delicious! I use Morton's Salt Substitute to sprinkle on them.
I also spent some time watching old cartoons as well.
I love trains too. My maternal grandfather was an engineer and Mother used to tell me stories of her adventures on his train. My paternal grandfather was a mechanic in the railyard which serviced the trains. When I see a train, I feel connected in some way. I like your comment that relaxing can be 'a frame of mind.' I agree. Hope you have a great day.☺♥
ReplyDeleteWatching trains come and go would be very enjoyable, especially the old ones of yesteryear, when train travel was more common across our country. My dad loved trains and collected toy trains for most of his adult life. Our family had a great love of the toy train villages that he developed. Now I do the same thing at Christmas in his memory. It's a lot of work to set it up and take it back down, but I find it very enjoyable to see under the tree. It's a family tradition that I am glad I decided to keep going in our home. Thankfully our kids help me set it up, or else I could not get down there and do it alone. Hubby either. We may have to come up with a higher display table, but for now it goes under the tree. Almost time to think about that...after Thanksgiving. I enjoyed relaxing with you today. You helped me to think about relaxing things. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pertinent topic for the times . We all need to cultivate this "frame of mind " to recharge our inner batteries ! We are beset with a constant stream of information , if we permit it ! My relaxation comes from several sources - intentional appreciation of the natural beauty around me , a persistent kitty who jumps into my lap , reminding me it's time for her pets and brushing , and cooking (put up 8 jars of spiced blueberry jam today !) ,, for myself and others .
ReplyDeleteStay safe , well and relaxed !
