The Warm Months

Howdy friends and internet family. It's nice to have you stop by and even nicer if you have taken part if Tuesday 4.

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
Warmer days

Spring has come and Summer is approaching. Our friend Linda tells me the temps in Florida are already in the 90s and humidity through the roof.  But days are grow\ing longer for everyone.  How does it effect you?

1.Daylight is getting longer... what do you do with the extra daylight?  Is it useful, productive or not?
I don't see how something detrimental to people can be useful or productive.  I find the lighter nights obstructive of sleep and cicadian rhythm.  It's proven to harm health and children.
In the 70s the nation switched to it 12 months a year.  The results were disasterous for children and adults alike.

2.  If you live where its more moderate do you spend more time outdoors?  If you live in the tropical climate does it keep you inside?
It is usually in the 80s in summer in New Jersey so people spend a lot of time outside.

Does the extra day light cause more heat and more use of utilies for you?
 Is it useful?

It began to let women work longer hours in wartime factories.   It was kept up so men could play later after work.
Anything that  damages the health of others is not helpful in any way.  It seems to be seflish desire.

3. How do you cool your home?
An airc onditioner on the hottest days. Fans and open windows the rest of the time.

How do you cool yourself off in the heat of the day?
Iced tea with tons of ice in it.

4. Do you enjoy a good barbeque outside in the warmer months or do you cook outside and eat inside?
I love a barbeque and eating inside or out is fine with me.

What foods do you enjoy on the barbeque?   Hot dogs, grilled vegetables and potato salad, watermelon, etc.

If you don't barbeque, what foods  and drinks do you enjoy in the warmer months?
I only barbeque if I have people over but I eat mostly salads and simple chicken or fish in the warmer months.

  1. I didn't know all the rationale behind daylight savings time. I only know I do like more light but I dislike having to change time backwards and forwards twice each year. It takes me a good week to get over the change. I do enjoy the lighter foods we all tend to eat during the hotter days like watermelons and salads and the drinks like iced tea. Yum. Have a wonderful week Annie!

  3. It's very hot here already but I'm a summer girl and love it. I like the bright sunny days, it makes me feel more cheerful! Love cooking lots of our meals on the grill year round! Hugs, Diane

  4. I’m 71 and this past time changed took me a week to adjust. It used to be a day. In 2018, roughly 60% of Californians voted to approve Proposition 7, which granted the state legislature authority to set one standard time. However, Congress still needs to pass a law allowing this before California can “ditch the switch.” I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll be able to see this in my lifetime.

  5. I like your answers. I had read about that with the daylight savings and found it fascinating. It makes sense, though I don't do well when there is so much darkness, so I tend to like more light. I've learned to go to bed fine with the light, and in our new home we purchased blackout curtains.
