clear and cool tonight.

While I was straightening up my kitchen tonight I came across a small yellowed newspaper clipping that my mother had squirreled away a long time ago. It describes the different forms of government that the world has produced.
She kept little things like that from time to time and I come across them from time to time when I go through the back of drawers and cupboards and take the time to really look at what I am pulling out.
Anyway, here is what the clipping says:
From Dear Abby, the forms of government in the world today:

Communism: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and gives you part of the milk.

Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. (they will also issue regulations on your other cow making it difficult for you to keep it too)

Fascism: You have two cows. The government will take both cows and sells you the milk from them.

Nazism: You have two cows. The government takes both cows and then shoots you.

Bureaucracy (as the EU): You have two cows. The government takes both of them, shoots one, milks the other and then pours the milk down the drain. (because it might be bad for you)

Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one of them and buy a bull.

It's a fun list that Abby came up with long ago. Hope it gives you a chuckle.

  2. Hi Annie! That about sums it up, I'd say. Funny how it can all be explained with 2 cows! ;)

Yes, you're right about all the things California has to offer. We always say that with a little over an hours drive we can be in the snow, the desert, at the beach, etc... Of course, we're only 15 to 20 minutes from the beach.

    Enjoy the week ahead! (((Hugz)))
