Memories of Summer

 Oh, I miss Summertime for the first time in a long time! I miss the warmth, the flowers  the sailboats in the lagoon here by me. The sounds of summer too.

The street here has still not been plowed, nor garbage collected. Actually, I still can't get to my wheelie bin trash thingy. Too much snow in front of it and now I know for next time to put it closer to the drive.
The small front pond is under snow still and I am not sure if the fish and frogs will make it. Just before the storm I had found that the pond was very low on water because the water coming from the waterfall pump had frozen over a bit and water was splashing out of the pond, rather than into it. I had to use buckets to haul water and fill it quickly. It is a smaller and shallower pond than the rear one but was still a major job. The hose was frozen solid. Remains to be seen how things will turn out. The pond is elevated. I put it into a raised garden bed created with interlocking blocks so that you can sit on the sit of it. Still, it was covered over by more than two feet.

Memories of summer are what I have now. I can't wait!

  1. Hi Annie, I hate summer winter and not sure which I hate the most. I love spring and fall but they don't hang around long in CA. You stay warm and I do hope you get your streets cleared soon! big hugs

  2. Hi Annie! I hope your fish will be okay! We are so cold (for us) but due to warm up and dry out. Both boys and Cooper are napping right now. ;) Hope I can coordinate this well every day! Funny that you said "wheelie-bin" as that's what my British friend Sadie calls them and I always think that's more charming than garbage can! :) Stay warm! (((Hugz)))

  5. Hi Annie. The snow looks so pretty! I don't get to see snow very often here is So CA unless we drive up to the mountains. We thought we would go this winter, but the major road up there was destroyed. Are the ponds man made? Will the fish freeze to death? We have had a few nights down to the freezing point, but no snow. Bye for now. Hugs

  6. Happy Friday Annie;

    Although the weather here isn't happy at all. I'm watching another snow storm out my windows. I had to chuckle when you said you were off to watch Miss Marple for I spent yesterday afternoon and evening watching my Hercule Poirot dvds. I never tire of them. Today I'll watch Miss Marple. ;-} Have a lovely weekend my friend. Hugs
