Memorial Day

Memorial Day and I am sick.
I came down with a sore throat yesterday and awoke with laryngitis today. What a mess. It may simply be allergy but, I am not able to talk much.

We were all going to New York City to see the Pompey exhibit but that has been postponed for a while now.
Not only am I sick but my daughter has a paper due for her class tomorrow and needs the day to work on it.
So, a quiet day for me today.
Here at the shore this day is the official start of summer and the descent of the tourists from North Jersey, New York , Canada and Ireland. Those are where we get most of our tourists from.
Our beaches are clean and super big, have sugar sand, the water is safe and usually clean. The water isn't Florida bathtub warm but it isn't frigid like the Pacific either, usually hitting above 73-75 degrees  or so in  summer.
So it begins and the quiet will end for a little bit.
On the up side all the ice cream places that shut down for winter are back and ready to sell. Kids are happy campers!
from my neighborhood  to yours..have a happy day
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day. Remember those who gave their all for us.

  1. Ahhhhh, the one thing I really still miss about NJ, my beaches. You describe them well. The only thing I have here thats better is that even in the summer our beaches are not as busy as NJ. And I dont miss the crowds.

Quite a few yrs ago we went to a family wedding there. My son in law never saw NJ. We kept telling him about Seaside and he just didnt believe us. So we took him there and he promptly fell in love.

  2. Hi Annie;

Taking a break from watching the Yankee game and thought I'd stop by. I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well and pray you'll feel better soon. No fun being sick this time of year.

I know how the tourists feel coming to your shore and beaches. I used to love going to the Jersey shore with family during the summer.

Take care my friend and feel better soon. Hugs

  3. Sorry you're sick Annie. Hopefully it's just allergies but then again, that's harder to avoid if it is. Your beaches sound lovely. Our water in SoCal is warmer than northern Cal. Summer it's usually at least 68 but often into the low 70's. As a teen, I would spend hours on end in the water. We would ride on big blowup surfriders. Our backs would get so tanned! That was before boogie boards. And the surfboards we rode on were long boards- 7 feet or longer! Summers seemed endless, too, and now they're over in the blink of an eye. (((Hugz)))

  4. Hi Annie,
So sorry you are sick. Hope you feel better today:) Happy June 1st! It has always amazed me how the Pacific ocean is so much colder than the Atlantic ocean even when we are very hot our ocean stays cool and yours more like bath water and the Caribbean ocean is very warm also. Hope you have a wonderful day. It is back to work for me! Hugs, Dru
