Into the Weekend

This red dot is home for me.
Our town extends from the mainland over to the beach... the narrow strip of white is the beach, the barrier island. To the left, the darker water,  is the bay, to the right the lighter,  bluer water is the Atlantic.
That barrier island is only about 3 blocks wide in most places and is all that keeps the Atlantic from surging in.
In some previous storms, the island has breached in places where old inlets used to be.

I hope that Irene turns out to be a whole lot of nothing for everyone.
