Labor Day

Labor Day came and went quietly for this old union member. I was a proud member of the AFLCIO and the Air Line Pilots Association.
But nothing happening today except for try to fight off a cold. Woke up with a soreness in the tonsils and hanging in there with vitamin C and plenty of tea.
Hope your day went smoothly and that you had fun whatever you did.

  1. Happy Labor Day Annie,
    So sorry to heae you woke up to a sore throat and a cold. I hope you feel better real soon. I was in the union way back in the 70's when I worked for the phone company. Have a wonderful week ahead.

  2. Hi Annie;

    Sorry about your cold and hope you feel better my friend. Labor Day went quietly for me too. I enjoyed the book I wrote about. Being a fast reader, It took just about an hour and a half. It was a great read and different from what I'm used to. I too was in the AFLCIO in the Bronx many years ago in the Meat Industry as a teen and up to my first child at the age of 25. Feel better soon. Hugs

  3. Hiya, hope you feel better real soon. :)
    In Italy Labor Day is on May 1st. Here in the UK it's not celebrated, quite a pity. :(
    Have a lovely hump day! xo

  5. Hope you were victorious over your sore throat... that's always my weak spot. Airline Pilots Assoc? What's the story behind that? My dad was a big union man and a dyed in the wool democrat. :) (Will have to google that expression!) PS. Justin & Sarah missed the Cost Rica 7.6 earthquake by 1 day! Phew!

  6. Here we go: When wool is dyed before it is spun into thread (as opposed to after it is spun or woven into fabric), the color is profound and likely to last a very long time. From this we can infer the metaphorical meaning of the idiom dyed in the wool, which means profoundly, deeply ingrained, or to an extreme degree. It’s usually used in describing a person’s political, cultural, or religious beliefs or to emphasize their commitment to something.

  7. I can hear in my mind those fish munching on the plants. The rain makes more than we know happy for the blessing of rain. Tonight we are supposed to get a lot and cool weather is expected because of it. Hope you are feeling better now and no sore throat.
