Cookie Recipe: Russian Tea Cakes

Butterballs or Russian Tea Cakes
M  other made these a lot in the winter.

Guests were always coming to the house and they would also drop by on holidays before going elsewhere just to get some of my mother's food.

She and my grandmother, who lived with us, were the best cooks I know.
Their pies and cakes and cookies were famous.
During the Depression my grandmother kept the family going by baking breads and pastries to sell.  She did a land office business!

Here is my mother's recipe for Russian Tea Cakes. They are also called Mexican Wedding Cookies and Polish Wedding Cookies and probably many other names as well.
Whatever you call them, they are delicious.

  2. Annie, those tea cakes sound wonderful and so easy to make! I have a women's ministry party this weekend and I just might try these out. I love your header! I wish I could look out my window and see just such a scene. Not happy with this 80 degree weather here in Florida! Hugs

  3. Hi Annie!

Copied tour Russian Tea Cake recipe. I have a huge list of cookie recipes from a Christmas Cookie Exchange we did online 8 or so years ago... recipes from all over the world from the people who live there. What kind of nuts do you prefer to use in the recipe... I think pecans, walnuts or almonds would be good. Copied down your Housekeeping meme and will post when I can find time to blog. (((Hugz)))
