Hollywood recinded this song's nomination for an Oscar.
Times have changed and not for the better. At one time songs like You'll Never Walk Alone, Climb Every Mountain, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands were big hits.
Now the nation rejects faith like a disease.
If Hollywood won't play it, I will because I have also been Alone, but not Alone as have so many of us at times in our lives.
This rendition is beautifully done by Joni Eareckson Tada.
"ALONE YET NOT ALONE tells the inspiring true story of Barbara and Regina Leininger and their journey of faith and survival during the French & Indian war in 1755. Captured by the Delaware Indians in a raid on their home and transported over 300 miles of wilderness to Ohio, the sisters are sustained only by their abiding trust in God" (Trailer Here)
Amen Annie. Thanks for saying it like it is! Hugz
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that Annie. I hope to see that movie. I loved the words and I have felt the same at times. Hugs
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good one and just what we need about now....
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, That is not reason they took it out of the nominations. Why would you think that?? He broke the rules by emailing people to hear the song that were voting that is a no no so he needs to be blamed not the academy! Songwriter Bruce Broughton improperly lobbied "at least 70" music branch members during the voting period. It is really too bad he broke the rules because he broke the rules :( Hope your weather is not too bad we hear horror stories about how bad it has been! Hugs, Dru
ReplyDeleteI read it in the Hollywood Reporter and other sites:
Delete"In a move with few precedents in the 86-year history of the Academy Awards, the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to disqualify an Oscar nominee prior to the Oscars ceremony itself."
Hi Annie! I do tend to agree with you that this country is rejecting faith more and more but like Dru, I also heard that he broke the rules and that is why he was disqualified. Hope you're doing well and keeping warm. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDear Annie, actually I don't understand why this so beautiful song has been discarded, I think it to be so touching and moving, I've enjoyed this trailer so much and I'm looking forward to watch this film .. I wonder when it will arrive in Italy, I love this period of the history and I love true stories taking place in it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for having made me know it <3
Have a lovely weekend my sweet friend xox
Dany
Hi Annie, Yes it was the first time in 86 years but the songwriter broke the rules during the voting period. He was his fault it was nominated he blew it :( Hugs, Dru
ReplyDeleteI love that song, and I think Joni did a remarkable job on it. I hope I will have a chance to see that movie. I hope it will be shown here in Australia. Will have to keep my eye out for it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Andrea
