Here are some tips to staying safe in cold weather:
1. Stay inside, Avoid going out and don't stay out for long. Here is a link to dressing in extreme cold.
2 Dress in layers. Warm layers! warm underclothing, warm tops, warm sweaters or sweatshirts, woolen scarves, heavy gloves , warm woolen or insulated socks.Top off with a heavy winter coat.
3 Cover your extremities well. You can get frost bite even through gloves if you are out long enough and it does not take very long in sub zero temperatures.
4 Use a woolen scarf to cover your mouth and cheek areas.
5 In frigid weather the battery on your car uses 50% more energy to run so you will lose half the life of your car battery. Make sure you have a good battery. Make sure you have survival blankets, food and etc in your trunk. Space blankets, energy bars, etc. Keep your cell phone charged for emergency and get help quickly if you are stranded!
