Post Thanksgiving

Really, there should never be a 'post' Thanksgiving.
We should be thankful every day of the year.

But it is a good thing to have a day set aside to remember from where our blessings originate and to make a public announcement of it throughout the whole nation.
Football and black Friday idiocy aside, there are those whose focus is on the One who, as it says, "You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing."

Why do we pray two times for each meal, before and after?
It says, "The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof". Therefore you steal if you eat without thanking your Maker. All things are His. We thank Him for it before we eat.

And after a meal we say grace because it says, “And you shall eat and be satisfied, and  you will bless your God for the good land which God has given you.”
It isn't a suggestion. It says "you will".
Today I am joining with Debbie's Friday Foto Friends.

We are thankful for the beauty of the earth.

Trees are losing their color but Cedars and Pines stay green all year and the back bay area changes little.Deer munch on the grass, rabbits line their homes for winter, mink and otter swim a little less it seems and fish cease jumping as the water grows colder.

The open bay is just ahead

Thanksgiving place setting. Plates from Home Goods for 3.99 each. The silverware is by Wallace in Spanish Lace which I got as a  gift from my parents.

Crumbly Pumpkin Pie.
I realized I had made typos and mistakes in the recipe I gave here and corrected it. The recipe calls for sweetened condensed milk.  I used regular evaporated milk and had to add sugar and pumpkin pie speces to correct that. Kept tasting until I got it just right.
While this pie is nice, I still like the regular kind found on the Libby's pumpkin pie can the best.

The worst part of Thanksgiving is waiting hours after the meal  to eat dessert.  We eat the meal in the early afternoon and have dessert later that night.

  3. Happy Post Thanksgiving dear Annie. Love the place setting and yummy pie. I never went shopping on the so-called black friday or watched football. My family and I after dinner and dessert played a couple of cute games called "Would You Rather" and "Heads Up" and spent time catching up with each other. At night all the young couples went to the movies. Us "older" ones just hung around. It was great!. Have a blessed evening my friend.

  4. Your pumpkin pie looks delicious, and sounds like you knew how to fix the mistake perfectly! I agree with you, and my family does too, that Libby's recipe is the best. It is my go-to recipe at Thanksgiving. I enjoyed your pictures and your thoughts about Thanksgiving, it is indeed a time to be thankful, not just one set apart day, but every day. Many blessings and hugs to you today :)

  5. Remember the little jingle, "If it says Libbys Libbys Libby's on the label label label, you will like it like it like on your table table table. It says Libby's Libby's Libby's on the label label label. Ha Ha! I think they used to write Libby's three times on their label. Not sure they still do that...but I still like Libby's Pumpkin the best...the original, not the pumpkin pie mix. I prefer to add my own spices as per the recipe. Never fails to be perfect. But your pie looks delicious too. Kind of like my sweet potato casserole...with nuts and butter and brown sugar topping. So Thankful for God's love and mercy and marvelous provision. Yes, we need to give thanks to the Lord before AND after! Amen!!! God bless you dear friend.
