Beautiful Day.. Sat. 9

Gale Warning
rain/snow

Welcome friends on this cold, rainy/snowy day by the New Jersey seashore
Today is Saturday 9.

Beautiful Day (2000)

Unfamiliar with this week’s song? Hear it here.

1) This song is about finding joy in an imperfect world. What brings you joy today?
No joy... joy is rare but there are nice things that happen daily that are pretty great.

2) The lyrics mention being stuck in traffic. A poll of Boston commuters revealed that drivers have a variety of responses to be stuck in traffic — everything from bored to impatient to angry. How do you feel when you’re stuck in a traffic jam?
Grateful for the rest. I would sit back and  relax.

3) This year Bono and his wife, Ali, celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Who is the longest-married couple you know?
My parents were married 39 years until my Dad passed away.

4) When Bono inducted Frank Sinatra into the Grammy Hall of Fame, he complimented Frank on his “swagger.” Do you think you have “swagger?”
  I certainly hope not.
The LORD also says: “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty— walking with heads held high and wanton eyes, prancing and skipping as they go, jingling the bracelets on their ankles  the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will make their foreheads bald. Isaiah 3:16
Here endeth the lesson for today.

5) When U2 guitarist The Edge did a charity concert at the Sistine Chapel, he became the first rocker to perform there. If you were to travel to Rome, what sites would you be certain to visit?
Maybe a nice restaurant.  Other than that, nothing.  The sites popular with most concern ancient Rome.. a bloody rotten empire.  I have no interest in that.

6) This week’s song was chosen because St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and U2 is one of Ireland’s most famous exports. What else is Ireland famous for?
Preserving learning for all Europe.

7) Corned beef and cabbage is a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dish. Is it a favorite of yours?
No, since  its not Irish and is way too high in sodium.    I make Colcannon which IS Irish and whiskey lamb chops.. also Irish.
Recipe for Emerald Isle Chops (not the one I make, but it looks delicious)

8) St. Patrick is credited with driving snakes out of Ireland. Ophiophobia is the fear of snakes. Do you suffer from ophiophobia?
Anyone with a brain is cautious of them.  The bite of even a non poisonous one is toxic to the blood.      The snakes cast out were Druids and snake worshippers.
Wales and Ireland were Christian from about 35 CE or AD

9) St. Patrick’s Day fantasy: A leprechaun will share his gold with you, but you must request a specific amount for a single item. How much would you ask for, and what would you buy?
I ask for $500,000 to  refurbish my poor falling down home  and for the first time in my life buy furniture of my own, put up fencing, buy a car for the first time ever and build a pool to give my spine relief from pain.

  4. Your comments about money are more logical than mine. I'd love to have our yard redone and a pool would be great.

  7. Good Morning , my friend !
    Good questions...great answers !
my favorite Irish consumable lately is Jamieson's Whiskey...used , by special request in homemade Whiskey Truffles for a younger friend !
As to your leprechaun fantasy , those details have been part of prayers on your behalf !
A quick note about #2 - Decades ago , when traveling to visit a friend , our route took us through a constantly congested part of the city . After watching some of the other drivers' frustrated reactions , my young son and I rolled down our windows and began to sing silly songs , at full voice ! I don't know if that bothered the others more than the traffic jam , but we found that it's hard to be grumpy when you're giggling !

  8. #5 I'm Italian and when we went see Beautiful on Broadway, my cousin knows a nice Italian restaurant right off of Broadway where we had dinner after the play, we had a nice seven course dinner starting with Antipasto and ending with desert and cappuccino (They had decaf cappuccino.)
