Four Seasons

 . ?
Once again it is Tuesday and time for Tuesday 4. I hope you like the subject this week. I know I need to come up with some more challenging ones in the future.
Weather here on the eastern seashore is definitely autumn-like and  it is lovely.  Trees are slowly turning.
Someone said the little drought we had this summer is to blame.        It rained a bit today and more is coming tonight as I write this.  There is talk of snow early this year.  Two years ago it snowed on October 16.  We will see what develops as we head toward Halloween season
Lets get on with Tuesday 4..

Glad to have you back for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
The idea is to promote blogging and friendship and allow you to get to know yourself and others through 4 questions asked each week.

Let's talk about the seasons. Summer has just passed and we have begun our journey into autumn.

1. How would you describe each of the four seasons?

Autumn is the golden season when leaves turn orange, red, yellow and the sea grasses become pure
gold. Wind is fresh and crisp, apples are gorgeous, and home begins to show how warm and inviting it can be. Scarves and sweaters make their lovely appearance and the thought of snuggling up with a hot drink is just wonderful.  Hallmark movies take center stage and we gather for thanksgiving for all the blessings we share.
Winter is the silver month when skies become silvery, trees show off their browns, and white fairy crystals fall from the sky in silence turning the landscape into a wonderland.   Wind reddens the cheeks to a rosy red and  you  really can understand the true comforts of home : a warm fire, a snugly chair, hot meals.  Watching a snowstorm outside is a pleasure from your warm house.
Don't tell me skies are gray in winter. You are not seeing it right. No, they are silver. Once you understand that you will love the season.   Christmas and Chanukah remind you that it is on dark days that you see the light best.
Snow tells you "slow down" on the road and look at life around you. Stop the hurry.
Spring is pink and baby green.  There is nothing like a carpet of petals to walk on as the trees begin to rain down in the wind on a windy spring day.
Rain is more common and home becomes a refuge once again from the weather.  How good it feels to come home out of a rain storm!  Heavy rains also slow you down and force you to take things slow and easy.  Time to smell the roses along the way.
Summer is the month of vivid green as trees and lawns turn emerald.  The blazing sun soothes bones and tans skin and yet again, home becomes a refuge and a joy where you can cool down and relax from the heat.   Heat also slows you down.  It seems slowing down and relaxing are deeply set into nature.

2.  How do you generally feel during each season? Do you suffer allergy, feel tired, sad, happy, energized? What does each season do for you?

In Spring I sneeze and ache from the storms and rain.
In Summer I like to stand on the hot earth or sand with bare feet and feel it soothe me inside.
In Autumn I come truly alive with the colors and the chill in the air.
In Winter I hibernate a bit by sleeping longer hours. Maybe a chance to heal?  Winter makes me feel very hospitable.  I love guests any time of year at all but winter is nice because its a honey time of year and its lovely to share it with people.

3.  If there is to be only one season for you to live in, which one would it be and why?
It would be perpetual Autumn.  The colors never ending, the chilly nights and cool days would be a treat. The sounds of the howling winds and the Barn Owls who seem to love  the season too make me so happy as do the cawing crows.

4. What color(s) do you associated with summer, winter, autumn and spring?  Example: maybe summer is green, winter is white..etc.
Winter is silver and blue, red and green. On very cold days when snow is deep you can see the blue hue behind it.
Autumn is red, orange and yellow.  It is also oatmeal and cashmere by the beach as the phragmites turn to seed and look like gorgeous oatmeal colored fluffy wool. Against the deep browns of the bark it's just stunning.
Spring is  baby pinks, greens and yellows.
Summer is emerald green, deep blues and reds.

  3. You write such beautiful descriptions of the seasons. I love summer best and we have a long summer here in Florida. Fall is my least favorite season. But I should read what you've written and see the best in each season..they are all a blessing!

  4. Hi Annie~ This one is fun and made me think of the seasons in a way that I normally don't...like the colors of seasons. You really do have a beautiful way of describing each season! I love each season for their own separate and beautiful qualities, but I would have to say that Autumn is my favorite. I love how the fall colors and the change of colors help me get through some of the changes in my life. Like you, I hurt during the winter months and so, winter makes me slow down, spring invigorates me and summer gets me outdoors with friends and family...I love them all! Beautiful post! Hugs, Barb

  6. You just can;t beat Autumn. Such a beautiful time of the year and at my house the weather is perfect...not today, it was in the 40's, but normally perfect weather. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

  7. Yes, I totally agree with you about autumn being the best with its colors and scents and beauty. I know winter has its own type of beauty, especially in the north, even with the cold temps, but winter here is rather blah and brown. Spring is lovely indeed and summer is much too hot for me here where we live, so I stay indoors most of the time. (humidity, heat, bugs...no thanks!). So back to autumn. Bring it on!!! It's here right now and we are enjoying it.
