Back so soon? Well, weeks fly by it seems. Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory of Toni Taddeo it's first host and founder.
How about the subject of Hollywood, it's 'stars', its products and it's affect on the world?
1. Which of the big movie stars of the past were your favorites? why?
I like movies by Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Bette Davis. Not fond of them as people per se but some of the movies were good ones.
2. Of the 'Blockbusters', which do you think is the all time greatest? Which was one you would see again? I think "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston was the best of all time.
3. Are you up on the latest Hollywood gossip? What interests you or alternatively why doesn't it interest you?
I don't follow Hollywood or TV stars or gossip. I find the whole Hollywood/TV scene to be self involved and very entitled. I just can't be bothered with them. They seem so empty and dumb.
4. /Some movies, plays had a big impact on people. Orson Welles radio performance of War of the Worlds caused havoc including suicides and accidents. Is there a movie that you were greatly influenced or affected by? The Ten Commandments was one. And one Andy Rooney film (I love old films) had a real effect on me. In the film "Life Begins for Andy Hardy", Judge Hardy, Andrews (Mickey Rooney) father gives him marriage advice . Judge Hardy explains beautifully why every unmarried person should be faithful to his or her future spouse, even before they ever meet each other.
It really is amazing how movies can make such an impact on you. I just watched Ever After to feel encouraged. I watch it again and again. It's my all time favorite movie.
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, that is one of my most favorite movies ever..."Ever After". Now I want to see it again!
DeleteAnnie, thanks for the questions and I enjoyed your answers. That video clip is very good and so true. Thanks for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteFun post, although I got caught un in Hollywood and forgot of the bigger than life blockbusters like 10 Commandments. SO many great ones of the past!!
ReplyDeleteThe Ten Commandments was one of my favorites too, but also The Sound of Music and The Bishop's Wife. I love the old classic movies...they actually had something sensible to say and teach us... Good post today. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call them empty and dumb. I don't know them, and they call it the entertainment industry. So maybe their front is just a canvas for us to fill in, with or without the contect of a movie. But that's how I see it.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions, brought some wonderful memories. Thanks!
