Saving All My Love.....

Saturday...   Here on the mid-Atlantic coast we are under a severe forest fire warning.  We have not had rain in over 2 months now and its so very dry.   With piles and piles of leaves around and the Pine Barrens so dry, its a volatile situation.   We need rain badly.
Weather Friday was gorgeous with a warm sun and chilly breeze blowing.  Leaves were falling like rain as I stood on the back porch to feed fish.

Here is this week's Saturday 9
Unfamiliar with this week's song?          Hear it here.
This song, Saving All My Love For You , is about a woman having an affair with a married man.. Not a favorite of mine.  It's the female version of Me and Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul.  Musical versions of how to be a creep and put your own wants ahead of loyalty.

1) This was Whitney Houston's first big hit, her introduction to a mass, national audience. But music was not her first career. While she was still in high school, Whitney was a model and  Seventeen magazine cover girl.  Is there a print magazine in your home right now?   If yes, who is on the cover?
There is a magazine rack full of them and they are all very old. Most of them have unknown people or things on the covers.

2) During her modeling days, she also appeared on packaging for Simplicity patterns. Can you sew?
Yes, I can sew. We had sewing from 7th grade through 12th grade. We made aprons, blouses, dresses, etc.

3) "Saving All My Love for You" was the record that made Whitney Houston a superstar in the UK. Let's flip that: Tell us about a British performer you enjoy listening to.
I like Tom Jones and I like the voice of  Linda Eder.   Elton John was good as well.

4) This song was composed by Michael Masser. He left his career as a stockbroker to pursue his passion for music and scored his first major hit with "Touch Me in the Morning" by Diana Ross. Do you feel you have a greater affinity for the analytical/logical or the creative/emotional?
Probably the analytical.

5) The lyrics were written by Gerald Goffin. He, too, took a circuitous route to music success. After high school he joined the Navy. When that stint was over, he went to college and studied chemistry. He worked in a lab for a while, but that was just to earn a regular paycheck until he could support himself with songwriting. What was your first job after you finished your education? How long did you stay at that job?
My first job was also in chemistry as a Medical Technologist.

6) While this week's song was Whitney's first hit, it wasn't her most biggest hit. That was "I Will Always Love You," from the soundtrack of her movie The Bodyguard. "I Will Always Love You" was written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton. The film's star and producer Kevin Costner called Dolly personally to get her permission to use her song, a courtesy she appreciated. Who has recently been thoughtful or kind to you?
Many people.  I won't name them as I would probably leave someone out.

7) Whitney was a big fan of tomato soup. So is Barbra Streisand. (Maybe is bestows some kind of musical superpower!) What's your favorite soup for an autumn day like today?
I also like tomato soup made with cream.  I also like Cream of Potato soup and Chicken soup with Matzo balls. I'm crazy for it.

8) 1985 wasn't just big for Whitney. It was also the year Bruce Willis became a household name when his TV series premiered on ABC. Can you name it?
Moonlighting

9) Random question: While dining out, have you ever sent food back?
On a date in NYC.  They gave me someone else's order.

  2. I'd have to send food back, too, if it wasn't what I ordered, but I can't recall a time when that happened. Enjoyed your answers, Annie. Blessings for a great weekend!

  3. I love to sew and made a lot of things for my girls. My mother was a great seamstress and made most of my clothes. I still have my machine, it's sits lonely and forlorn on a shelf in the closet. Happy Saturday☺♥

  4. We are crispy dry, too. No rain for 5 weeks now, not since the hurricane came through at the first part of October. I think they had done away with home economics by the time I was in school. I don't recall it being available, anyway, although I was on the college track so maybe I just overlooked it. I don't seem to have the knack for such things, really.

  5. Annie, I think this is the first time I've visited your blogs (I checked out your Original blog, too). What you've created here is beautiful, truly. Love your original artwork.

Thank you for the condolence message you left on my blog. I appreciate the thought. Thankfully, this separation from my late mother is only temporary.

  6. Good Morning , from crispy , cloudy NJ !
My mother was a talented sewer and made her clothes and ours . I sewed , as well , but am not nearly as skilled as she was . Tomato soup , with cream , in a big mug , with a bit of butter floating on top , is my favorite take-the-chill-off comfort food !
Wishing all of you a wonderful , safe , healthy day !
