A Woman's Life...

I am sorry the Tuesday 4 went up late this week. I simply forgot which is odd since I began working on it a few days ago. But Sunday came and went without a thought about it!
If you ever have some ideas for good subjects for Tuesday 4 let me know here in comments or in comments at Tuesday 5 or in Facebook.    I really want the subjects to be enjoyable or to get people thinking and discussing.
Looking at the picture I am thinking how much I could use a few days at a hotel here at the beach.  I would eat my way down the boardwalk from one end to the other.  And there would be no trave involved!
A few days in Cape May would be heavenly.  It's one of the most beautiful shore towns ever.. all Victorian homes and B&B's. Horse and carriages.. so pretty.  Ain't gonna happen so I will go sit by the bay and enjoy myself with a nice big WaWa coffee and a big soft pretzel.

Well, it's good to see you back here at Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Whenever I write Tuesday 4   I will inevitably hit the 5 instead of the 4.

Oh well... Let's talk about Moms and Wives and other  unpaid domestic servants.

1. Have you ever found yourself in the same position as this lady?  How did you feel about it?

The only vacations I went on like the one in the photo was with my parents in Wildwood , NJ and once in Seaside.  I don't think we ate anything but breakfast in the  rented houses.   We only went on two vacations anyway.

2.. Women do the cooking, the cleaning up and the organizing while the rest of the family reap the rewards of that.. is it fair?

No, the family should be helping out with dishes, cleaning up and cooking if they can. After all Mom needs a vacation too and Moms need to have days off as well.   Some holidays should be catered for the woman's sake.

3.  Vacations at air b&bs or rental homes often mean Mom does all the work.  What kind of holiday or vacation would be most restful for you?

Staying at a  5 star hotel is the best relaxation.  Everything is first class and eating out is the best way to relax I think.

4.  In Proverbs 31, the wife is married to a very prominent man in town.  She runs the house, has a cottage industry, owns vineyards on her own and buys and sells real estate.

What kind of woman are you? Do you hold a job.. do you do the housework.. do you find rewards in service to others or do you find it can be wearing on  you or perhaps a little bit of both.

I held 2 jobs, both full time while raising kids and taking care of an invalid mother.  I had no working oven, no dryer and no car.  I took the bus to work and walked for part of the way.   I was suffering from spinal stenosis and was on my feet for over 16 hours a day.   Do I want pity? YES!!      😋     It was hard.  Did I complain? No.  I am a team player, God help me.

What  earthly rewards do you get out of  the life you are living?

I live alone now and the reward is peace and quiet.

  1. Wow you were very busy working and caretaking at the same time. I know from experience that caretaking of parents and loved ones is a very hard job. I can't imagine the pain of spinal stenosis though I do know someone else that suffered from it. God will reward you for what you've done for others even if you didn't do it for a reward. I know sometimes we just need our feelings validated when we're going through something. Hugs.xx

  2. You really did have a lot going on in your life during those years. I honestly don't know how you did it, but I do know that somehow God gives us what we need when we need it. We don't have time to stop and think about it...we just know we have to do it. I am sure your mother appreciated all you were able to do for her, and also at some point the part of Proverbs 31, where "her children rise up and called her blessed" hopefully comes true. I know I didn't fully appreciate all my mother had done for our family when we were growing up until I became a mother myself and tried to balance everything...and I sometimes still am amazed at all my mother was able to do for us. Yes, retirement and less responsibilities makes a huge difference in life. (although we seem to still find too much to do! LOL). I will probably not get around to this week's meme until later. Got a lot going on today.

  3. Peace and quiet, that is what most of us aim for, right? Keeping you in prayer, Annie and thank you for your kind words yesterday.

  4. Peace and quiet is wonderful but can be boring. I'm too active hahaha but i do have to say that now that i'm retired and husband still works full time i love my quiet mornings. I will pray for your back. I too have mild stenosis among other spine issues. it's not pleasant but thankfully my chiropractor uses cutting edge technology and keeps me away from surgeries and meds. I enjoyed your answers. Happy April!!

  5. We all have our work to do not matter who does the dishes.

The photo is a little funny to me. Here is a woman with a family, a beach vacation, and enough food to make many dirty dishes, but she is unhappy? 😂 Sometimes we need a little perspective. She could stick her head out that door and ask for help. They love her. They would help! Or get some paper plates and order a pizza. What did she make a five course meal at the beach?? Ha ha!!

I cook. I clean. I homeschool. I fold mountains of laundry. I am thankful because I used to be alone.

  6. You certainly did NOT have it easy, Annie, but you certainly made the most of it. Blessings!
