♫Summer time and the living is easy says the song. So how is summer going for you? Let's talk about it.....
1. How has summer been so far? Has it been easy or hard or are things moving along as usual? Is the weather getting you down or are you enjoying it so far?
So far it's been really nice. Weather was cool, then warmed up a bit but only into the high 80s low 90's so not so bad at all. Here on the ocean side of the state it is much cooler than inland. No, the weather isn't getting me down. It's been lifting me up really.
2. What have you been doing this summer? Even the little mundane things count.
I've been spending a lot of time with the kids and the fish. In summer the fish eat 3 times a day so I am out feeding my little guys and enjoying them a lot. They are very sociable and curious. Spending time with the Famous Anonymous and the Little has been great. We like a lot of the same things actually and have lots to talk about. Monday, the Famous Anonymous had hand surgery. While helping a friend move, she was cut on her hand very badly and it severed the tendon leading to the middle finger. So yesterday she had emergency surgery and now it's wait and see if it's repaired.
I bought hanging pots of flowers and little flags for the garden, a no soliciting sign, more garden solar lights, and a no parking in front of the mailbox sign since people keep doing that. It's illegal but they don't seem to realize that.
3. What are you going to do? Any plans? What interests you this summer? I plan to keep enjoying the summertime and all it has to offer. My plans always center on people. I love to entertain and have people over. So I will try to do that often. Maybe Blue Claws baseball.. maybe rodeo (NJ has the oldest continual pro rodeo in the USA).
4. It's been hot in most of the country How are you weathering the heat ? What are your ideas for staying cool in the hottest weather of summer
In the hottest weather you stay a bit inactive. You turn on fans, drink cold fluids, go in the water, hose yourself down, sit in a kiddy pool and determine to enjoy what the weather brings. In the 1800's people had fans that you would wind up with a key. Ceiling fans on the porch and in the inside of the house were wind up and helped them stay cooler.

Great questions, great answers
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the weather has been nice for you and I hope you get to host many people over the summer.
ReplyDeleteYikes on the Famous Anonymous, I had severed the median nerve and had major surgery many moons ago (broken glass was embedded deep in my left hand). Keeping all in prayer, Annie.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the photos you take around your pretty home. Just looking at them cool me off! I'm glad that you are staying comfortable with this heat. Being near water must really help. I'm so sorry that FA cut her hand. I'm praying that all has been repaired and she will heal well. I haven't been watching the tropical system that hit SC but I hope it doesn't travel up the coast to you. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are spending time with family. I pray that FA is better soon! I cannot imagine what it was like when there was no A/C. Loved your answers! Have a nice Tuesday!

Hope that Famous Anonymous will recover fully and quickly, Annie. Your summertime climate sounds so much nicer than down here in the South where we can't survive without good ol' air conditioning. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery makes it all better. I did not get full use of my finger after I tore my tendon. But I did not have surgery either. The thumb moves well enough, but not a full grasp and there is some pain. But she is young and should heal well. Enjoy your family!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am sorry to hear about the Famous Anon. hand surgery, but glad they were able to do it and hopefully it will heal well and quickly. I'm glad you are enjoying your summertime with your kids nearby, etc., even though it has been pretty hot up north for so many. It's hot and humid here for sure, but we are used to that. Still don't like it, but it's the choice we've made! I haven't done this week's meme yet. Seems like I haven't been able to settle down long enough to write and also keep up with reading everyone else's posts. Maybe I'll get to it later still today, although it is almost 7:00 pm already. LOL. We'll see. Thank you for doing this each week. We all appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteKeep enjoying your summer, it sounds just right 😊
ReplyDeleteGood Morning !
ReplyDeleteIt's overcast now...supposed to have a high of 93 degrees with a "drenching thunderstorm" this afternoon ! The lightning strikes bring nitrogen to the soil and the rain is vital for those of us living in sandy soil pine forests !!! Win/win !
Hope all are safe , well and enjoying the gift that is each day .
