Been cleaning up a storm last two days.
We have had rain almost nonstop for 2 weeks now. The grass is as green as emeralds and the flowers are growing like crazy. There were only about 2 or so days where there was sunshine and temps have been low.
I can't say I am sorry about that. I like lower temps.
I lived in a suburb of Miami , Florida for a summer with relatives and it was HOT!! Nights were steam baths. But, oh, the smell of that night blooming jasmine was lovely, I must say.
I did like Florida over all too.
I was sent a Meme in email and I will share it with you. If you would like to join in, please do so.
I think they are a nice way to get to know people and they do give something to blog about.
1. How many states have you visited? 34 and flown over more than that.
All of New England most of the south and mid west and the south west including Utah, etc.
2.Which were your favorites?
I liked Maine. Northern Maine smelled heavily of pine and was just wonderful. I went fly fishing there in a really nice stream.
I also liked Tennessee. I have relatives there and went to the Smokey Mountains and enjoyed it a whole lot. Very pretty state.
I love Utah very much . I lived there for a long time. It's heaven on earth in many ways.
I thought the people of the Carolinas were among the sweetest people I met.
I got the greatest hair cut of my life in Connecticut.
I had great pizza in Florida of all places.
Upstate NY is beautiful. Lake Placid is lovely.
Nebraska let me see the edges of the globe! Out on the plains you can really see the curve of the earth. Amazing.
Driving across the US was the greatest thing I ever did in my life. Its spectacular.
3. What activities do you like?
I like fishing... a lot.
I don't like baitng a hook with live bait though. Yuk. I am too girly, but other than that I love to fish.
The first fish I ever hooked was a tarpon of all things.
A sunny was the first one I caught.
My record was 8 golden trout caught in American Fork Canyon in Utah. They were delicious.
Flag Day is the 14th. I need a new flag holder as mine broke but once thats in place my flag will be flying.
The Farmer's Almanac(I love it!!) says:
"What we know fondly as the “Stars and Stripes” was adopted by the Continental Congress as the official American flag on June 14, 1777, in the midst of the Revolutionary War. Colonial troops fought under many different flags with various symbols and slogans—rattlesnakes, pine trees, eagles, “Don’t Tread on Me,” “Liberty or Death,” and “Conquer or Die,” to name a few.
The first flag had 13 stars on a blue field and 13 alternating red and white stripes for the 13 original colonies. Now there are 50 stars, one for each state in the Union, but the 13 stripes remain. Flag Day was first celebrated in 1877, on the flag’s 100th birthday."
They even have a page listing how and when to display your flag and the laws and traditions that go along with it. You can go HERE to learn all about it.
An interesting meme. I'll have to get out a map and see what States I've been to. A lot but not as many as my French husband. He's visited every one but North and South Dakota.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Annie!
