I am joining in for Saturday 9 here and with Terri here for this meme.
Saturday 9: Start Me Up (1981)
1) That’s a goat wearing a high heel. What’s on your feet as you answer these questions?
Well the photo of the goat hoof in a high heel is creepy and a bit of animal cruelty I think and I don't want to have that on my blog so I am not posting it but, it was evidently part of the Rolling Stones album.
Here is a far cuter picture to fill in the gap:
But to answer the question, I am wearing moccasins which I favor in the house. They're comfortable and practical.
2) More fashion: In the video for this song, Mick is wearing white pants with an elastic waistband. Are you wearing a belt as you answer these questions?
No, I am not. I rarely wear them but depends on the outfit of the day.
3) In this song, Mick pleads, “Don’t make a grown man cry.” When is the last time you shed a tear?
Yesterday.
Let me add that seeing a grown man cry is one of the most heart rending things ever.
4) Keith Richard has said this is a song he could play “forever and ever.”
What in your life doesn’t get old, no matter how often you do it?
Family, friends and being by the bay.
5) While The Rolling Stones enjoy performing songs, like this one, from Tattoo You, Mick Jagger has dismissed the songs from their 1967 album Their Satanic Majesties Request as “rubbish.” Do you have a favorite Rolling Stones song?
Nope. They were never popular with me. I fully agree with Mick but take it further in that I think all their music is rubbish.
6) This recording of “Start Me Up” features a cowbell. Do you remember which Saturday Night Live host made, “More cowbell!” a catchphrase?
Sorry, I have no idea.
7) Bassist Bill Wyman once said he thought he should have been an archivist because he loved to make lists. Do you have a to-do list
Not usually but I do make grocery shopping lists which I always forget and leave home anyway.
I have a list for things I want from Boots when my daughter goes to her London office in September.
8) Mick finds it hard to stand still when he sings, not only on stage but also in the studio. The engineer for this song reports that Mick would have to run across the room to get back to the microphone for his vocal. Are you more fidgety, or still?
Still unless their is dance music on. It's why I can't go to see the ballet or any dance programs. Too hard to sit still. When Famous Anonymous kid and I go to see the Step Up movies my feet never stop.
This answer won't be popular with women but, on the whole yes. Men are more sensible.
It is inherent in their nature.
Young women especially are often ruled by hormonally driven emotion and more prone to fits of temper and silly behavior/decisions. Many run back and forth between decisions and find making a firm choice difficult.
Now, of course, this isn't all women or many women all the time but it does apply more to females than to males.
I also have known men who are not sensible at all but over all men tend to be more sensible than most women I know.
<soapbox >I think with the new 'snowflakes' some men are taking on more feminine ways and that is very sad but then some women have demanded men stop being men.</soapbox
Not me. I love men who are decidedly male and their masculine attributes.
So, on the whole though, all things considered, most men are still more sensible over all than most women.
Sorry ladies but as Fulton Sheen says ".....Wrong is wrong, even if everybody is wrong. Right is right, even if nobody is right."
cloudy low 70's F |
If it makes you feel any better, it's *highly* unlikely that the Rolling Stones corralled a real goal and tried to slip a high heel on its foot. Aside from the cruelty aspect (and I agree, that would be cruel) the logistics would be too time consuming. Even back in the 80s it would have been far easier and more cost effective for an art director to just photoshop one photo (a high heel) on top of another (a goat). ANNIE -- I had a typo in my first version of this comment so I deleted and tried again.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree it was Photoshopped but I still don't like what it is.
DeleteI am fluent in typo!
I'm giggling because I made a shopping list this morning and took it to the store with me...and left it in the car. Derp. Story of my life too.
ReplyDeleteAs for men and women, I'll just say that you need to meet some of my male family members, whom I love dearly. :-)
hahaha. Yes every family has its share don't they?
DeleteTypos are running rampant!
ReplyDeleteIt must be a symptom of question # 9 or perhaps, #1?
I say, Moccasins are very comfortable. Good choice.
You've been to my blog so you know I disagree with your answer about men being more sensible than women. I had moccasins years and years ago. I agree they are SO comfy!!
ReplyDelete{{{giggling}}over your snowflake comment. Thanks, I needed that today, lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely day, friend. smiles
