A Bit of This and That

Welcome friends.
Posting has been light as I have been busy with other things but today I am joining in for two of my favorite things, Friday Foto Friends and SkyWatch Friday.

Here are my offerings for both:

The big pond viewed from the back porch on a cold, rainy day.
Yes, the porch needs scraping and painting.

Yes, I am a perfume fanatic. I wear it daily.
The clock has triple chimes: Westminster, St. Michael's, and Whittington or Saint Mary's.
I wore Pavlova when I was younger. I am back to loving it once again!

The sky and frozen trees reflected on the big pond on a snowy afternoon.

yeah, sure.. stainless.. sure..yeah..right.
Getting the kitchen ready for paint.
The cabinets are natural cherry hardwood.
Countertops are awful and need replacing. Not sure what to use.
Oven is not working.. needs fixing but stove keeps breaking down and is around 20 years old now.Though it looks brand new on the outside the inside is rusting. Stainless steal my Aunt  Fannie!
Hmmph.

It looks as though the sky is on fire. I took this on a summer evening while I was sitting outside.

But most days the view is far more placid and blue.

Out Shopping....

Be back for Saturday 9....
See you later.

  4. Hi Annie, I can't wear perfume because of my allergies. I use essential oils. Have your fish ever froze? Is that a house or store in the last picture? Have a great weekend!

    1. Those are stores in the center of a town near me. No the fish pond is deep and the fish can hibernate over winter. I also use a stock pond heater to keep a hole in the ice.

  9. I guess I missed this yesterday! I wonder what color you will paint your kitchen cupboards, or will you strip and restain? Seems a shame to cover up cherry wood...but I know the trend is for lighter cupboards now. Maybe if they are sanded just put a clear coat on them and leave them "natural"...and they won't be as dark. Countertops are another issue altogether. We have solid white laminate countertops, and they are a very poor grade of laminate. Everytime I sit a cup of tea on them it leaves a brown tea stain circle. So I end up using a lot of bleach to clean them. They are too porous. I thought of waxing them, but that would be a job that would have to be repeated often. If I were going to stay here forever I would consider replacing them. Your stove/oven is another issue. If it has lasted 20 years, consider yourself blessed. Think twice before buying a NEW stove. They are not made to last more than 5 years nowadays, if you are lucky. My stove top is a real problem. The two front burners (electric glass top) only cook at a very HOT setting. You have to turn them off to get them to cool down, and then turn them back on again to warm it back up, and keep doing that until hopefully the food gets cooked w/o burning. Again, if I were going to stay here we would replace the stove. Already checked to see how much to repair. Repairman said too much. Buy a new one. So these are things we are dealing with too. When we move the new owners will have to decide what THEY want to do. I can't afford to repair/replace before we move. Would be willing to knock off some $$ from the sales price to negotiate... I love your pictures of your ponds, etc. Always beautiful in every season of the year. You are in a lovely place. Praying for a year of good health and many blessings. Looking forward to continuing this journey through blogland with you.

  10. Not going to paint the cabinets.. I meant the walls. I thought people would see the Spackle on the walls and know what I meant LOL.
No, the natural cherry is too nice and was way too expensive to paint over.
