Sunday Stealing ...Questions

Sunday Stealing from Durward Discussion.

1.  What is the nearest book to you?  Your Kindle does not count.
The Tales of O Henry2.  When was the last time you took a "me" vacation Never. I really could use some time away after 3 surgeries in 4 years. I am worn out.

3.  How many telephone numbers do you have?
Just one., my cell.

4.  If you could fix one thing in the public school system, what is the one thing you would do immediately?
Get rid of the new educational system and go back decades in teaching methods.    See Charlotte Iserbyt on that.  Most today are barely educated.

5.  Are you a big tipper?
I tip on the higher side of normal.

6.  Do you watch reality shows?
Not ever. They are horrible. It's cheap TV. Hollyweird can't think of anything anymore and TV has gone to seed. Reality shows are scripted lies and not reality at all.

7.  Who is your favorite sports team player?
I don't have one. I think most of them are ego maniacs today.

8.  If you could travel in a spaceship to any planet, which planet would you like to visit and why?
No where.  This is the only planet that counts and none are as lovely.

9.  When was the last time you sat in a church?
A house of worship! Well, a couple weeks back. Sometimes I am in too much pain to go places.

10.  Are there any aspects of blogging that annoy you?
Yes, people who I visit who never bother to visit back. Lately, I have been giving up on them. I've stopped commenting on many people on Facebook because they seem like they just can't be bothered to comment to me.  Gets old in a hurry.

11.  When someone follows you on their blog or subscribes to your Facebook page, do you automatically follow and subscribe back?
Not automatically. It depends on who they are.

  1. Great answers Anne! I love the Hollyweird! I do not like reality tv as well! Yes, we need to go back to teaching, when we really learned, and time was spent with the kids and teachers.

  3. I hear you on the blogging...and if you notice, I have the same people who do and I am ok with it. I like my close knit friends, such as you, my friend. smiles

  4. I agree with you on #4. The teachers would support that. When I was taking classes to teach, the teachers would tell me how great I wrote...and that is pitiful. I am not a great writer. Are the kids these days that bad that I look like a good writer? It really is sad.
I totally agree with you on the reality shows! They are junk! Loved your answers! Have a nice Sunday.

  5. I remember some of the "new" teaching methods came in during the time I started school and my brother did. He could not learn to read so I taught him how. I used phonics, but apparently they had stopped doing that by the time he hit the classroom. I have no idea how they teach it now but from the looks of thing, it doesn't work very well.

  6. It's too bad that there isn't a feature on blogs that lets you check in, if you don't have a comment to make, just so people know you actually visit. I agree with you that today's teaching is inferior to what it was when I was going through school. Too much emphasis on taking test and too little emphasis on whether or not the kids have actually LEARNED anything.

  7. I am way behind in my blogging visits, but my brain is just not with it these days since moving and waiting to move again. I try to keep up with you all on facebook, but that doesn't take as much concentration. I hope to get back in the groove once we get settled in our new house. I haven't even been reading books since our move. Just can't seem to relax and settle into it like before. I stay very keyed up thinking about the next thing we have to do each day. So please don't give up on me. I love connecting with you here and there. Yes, school is too much about testing and not enough about truly learning and experiencing new things. Standardized tests are not really a fair test of a child's intelligence. Too many children learn differently and should be tested in a manner that shows their true abilities. Some are auditory learners, while others are more visual and others are hands on...testing should be more flexible. I love your responses to things here and on FB. You are a wise thinker and I look forward to our interaction. Have a blessed rest of the day.

  8. I definitely agree with you on #6. The writers have no imaginations and the networks won’t give a decent show a chance. There were quite a few good series this past season that migrated to the streaming networks, but the networks canceled them. They would rather put out cheap, garbage content...reality shows, instead of quality programming. Gotta save a bunch of bucks.

  9. I think the rise of reality tv came during the writer's strike. The networks needed something. It was that or game shows on every channel. We did get some good game shows though.

    1. Hey!! Glad to see you. Think of you often. No one could pronounce Chana, so.. I went with the English version.
