So You Want to Live at the Beach?

You dream of living at the beach!

Well, here you go... the first two videos were taken at the very start of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. before things got bad and you  had to bug out quick.

These videos are very short so take a look and think again about living along the coast line.

It got much, much worse and NJ and NY shore areas were devastated by waves, wind and fires.Power was out for weeks and it was in the 30'sF.  It was darn cold!!

So.. still want to live on the beach?

  1. Impressive images. I like the idea of living on the beach, but I wouldn't choose that for me, exactly because of the storms and the humidity. I prefer a lake or a river.

  2. Yeah...we lived in Vero Beach the 1st year we were married...and hence, why I will never go back to FL or living near the beach. But yeah, seriously doubt I/we will go back to that lifestyle. It's beautiful and all, but still...been through so many storms and and an EF 5 tornado that hit Tuscaloosa, AL before we moved here (hence the big move and the hesitancy about moving again) and we lost everything...never mind, just rambling on.

  3. Yes! Living on the coast is so nice, but hurricanes are not! I've stayed for a few and I've evacuated for a few, neither of which was enjoyable. :(

  4. Nope. No desire to live near the ocean or any large body of water. I grew up pretty close to Playalinda Beach in Titusville, Florida. Been through lots of hurricanes. I don't trust water. It'll hurt ya, fer shure. That's why I live 50 miles inland. *wink* Cool pics, by the way.

  5. Been through a LOT of hurricanes, having grown up in Florida, but thankfully we always lived far enough inland that we didn't have any serious water damage, but there's always the wind and trees down and power outages. We've been very fortunate and very thankful. We've had tornadoes touch down near us too, but thankfully again, we were not in the direct path. At least we don't have to worry about freezing to death in a blizzard!! Every location has its issues... I feel pretty safe where we are, but we are always prepared for the possibilities...
