Thankful Thursday

Today Hi: 56°F
sunny
Thankful, grateful.   We must think on these things  supplied for us in a truly mindful way and make it a part of our daily lives.
We pray before we eat because it says "The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof"   It belongs to him, not to us.
We pray again after a meal because it says, "When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day."

Psalm 37 is sure:   "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."

"If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with him...the people who give you their food give you their heart."   César Chávez

“My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.” ~ Orson Welles

"The dinner hour is a sacred, happy time
when everyone should be together  and relaxed"  Julia Child
"All great change in America begins at the dinner table"    Ronald Reagan

Our tables are holy places holding the bounty of the Lord reminding us that it is he who gives and allows us to eat in peace.
Never neglect prayer before and after meals because you eating at a table supplied by his grace to all mankind. Psalm 145 is said at meals:    “You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.”
You have nothing without  God. Not one thing.   Put out the best you have. You come to the table furnished by God.   Meal time should be an uplifting experience, not a hastily thrown together thing.
Sit down as a congregation prepared to eat and rejoice.     You will regret it if you let it slip by you.

  1. Beautiful...and I just love your place settings, Annie. On a personal note, my mil will never be welcomed back at our home, she purposely defamed, took the Lord's name in vain at our dinner table. The most sacred places of all things, at our dinner table. Now, one can have disagreements etc. but one is to never ever curse or take the Lord's name in vain at a place that we pray and have our Bible lessons. NEVER

I hope you have a beautiful day friend, looks to be another warm one here in Central Fl.

  3. Wonderful post !!! Thank you !!!
The prayers said at our dining tables ask blessings , not only on the food , but on those sharing the meal . Some of the best times with friends and family are those spent , not going for comfy seats in other rooms , but staying at the table to share the events of our lives and to play games together !
