kind of thing that makes me so happy on the silver days of winter. And I prefer to call them silver days rather than gray. Autumn is red/orange/yellow. Winter is silver, blue and white. Spring is pink, baby green and milky yellow. Summer is deep gold and emerald green. How do you see them? No, don't answer that because it will make for a good question on Tuesday 4.
Here it is Friday morning and I am working on my Saturday 9. It's a lot of fun.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The lyrics tell us Dolly Parton has spotted a fella who twisted her ignition key and turned her motor on. That was in 1983. Keys are less common today, since many cars are equipped with with push button ignitions and more doors now open for those who know the key pad code or have the right swipe card. What's the last thing you used a key to start or unlock?
My house!
2) Her potential new boyfriend bought her a drink and she thanked him real sweet. Have you more recently said "thank you," or been thanked yourself? I said 'thanks' to a friend who brought me a little gift.
3) This is Dolly's first music video. "Potential New Boyfriend" was a top 20 country hit and made #13 Billboard's Dance chart, yet it's not well remembered today. Share a song from one of your favorite artists that the rest of us Sat 9-ers might not know.
There is a song from very long ago when I was a tiny little girl called "With the Wind and the Rain in Your Hari" by Pat Boone. As tiny as I was, I thought it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. My father recalled that I would sing it as "Wis da win and da wain in you hayr" but always on key he said!
4) This is not Dolly's first song about a romantic rival. Her hit "Jolene" was inspired by a bank teller who regularly flirted with Dolly's real (not potential!) husband, Carl Dean. Have you recently fallen victim to the green-eyed monster of jealousy? If yes, what were you jealous of (someone's affections, possessions, success ...)?
I don't really get jealous. I am wistful and wish I had some of the things others might have but, that's rare too. I tend to bloom where I am planted and make the most of what I have as much as I can. I would hate to feel jealous I think.
5) Dolly enjoys telling interviewers she met Carl at the Wishy-Washy Laundromat in Nashville. Do you have a hamper full of dirty clothes awaiting you? Or are you all caught up with that particular household chore?
I have laundry to do today, yes.
6) Dolly Parton's Imagination Library makes free books available to children. It was begun in 1995, and by 2020, her charity had distributed 150,000,000 books! When you were a very young reader, what was your favorite book?
Honestly, I hated books and reading as a kid. It was such a waste of time for me as I was an outdoor kid who longed to be outside running free or swimming in the ocean. I could not have cared less about books. I would use some of the little allowance my grandpa gave me to buy an Archie Comic once in a while or to buy a coke at the corner store. I hung out at the library though to read through the encyclopedia and reference books. They interested me more than novels. Funny thing is that I was a good reader but just was not interested in reading books.
7) Andy Warhol was fascinated by Dolly. When he asked her what her perfect meal would include, she responded it would have to start with chicken and dumpling soup. How would you have answered Andy? What's your perfect dinner menu?
It would depend on the day he asked and how I was feeling at the time. My tastes vary so much and I love so many different foods.
8) Thinking of chicken, In 1983, when this song was popular, McDonald's introduced Mc Nuggets. Today, it's one of McDonald's most popular menu items. Are you a fan?

9) Random question: Would you rather visit a desert or a jungle?
A desert. 1. it would make my spine feel soooo good. I like going barefoot and grounding in hot dry places. 2. I love the stark look and colors, the cactus, the red rock.. Yes!!
And not jungles because : 1. jungles have bugs and poison snakes etc. 2. unfriendly natives who shrink heads and eat people. So.. no jungles. Oh My Annie Fannie you are so politically incorrect! Why yes, yes I am.
Sunday the Tuesday 4 questions go up. I hope you will take the time to join in. Please?? Please???? begging never hurts.
Great answers. I already live close enough to the jungle and don't want to venture in any further. Not a desert fan either...too hot for me. I love shade and cool breezes. I think I'll just stay where I am. And yes, we still use keys for everything, except we do have a key fob thingy to unlock/lock our car doors. That is very handy and has an alarm as well, which is a good thing, unless you hit it by accident and everyone looks at you like you are stupid. LOL. I will try to do the Tuesday meme this week. Last week wasn't a good week for me and I just couldn't keep up. Thank you for continuing Toni's meme. It's the only one I do.
ReplyDelete#4 Jealousy is like an acid it just eats you up. Life is too short to waste it on jealousy.
ReplyDelete#5 Ha! I have a whole wicker basket filled with dirty laundry, the cottage doesn’t have a washer and dryer so I bring it home.
#7 True! My tastes also vary. When I was little you could tell the day of the week by what we ate. Thursday – Spaghetti, Friday – Fish, Saturday – pizza, & Sunday – Steak and potatoes!
I was the same way on #6. I always played outside and I loved reading encyclopedias. My Grandparents gave me their set. I was always reading them at their house until we brought them home.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right about #9...maybe I should not go to the jungle. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

Hi Annie~ Fun questions today. I can't remember that song from, Dolly Pardon?! I still use a key to start my car...and unlock my house doors. I said thank you to the bag boy at the grocery store yesterday. One of my favorite songs when I was a teenager was, Godsend by, Mason Williams. I love Mexican food and I will eat it anytime...not a McDonalds fan. I liked to read as a child, but I liked to play with my friends even more. Absolutely the desert! My husband just can't understand my love for the desert, I think it's so beautiful! I also love the mountains. Fortunately, I live in the, high deserts of Idaho and so I can enjoy both in the same day! Looking forward to your, Tuesday 4! Have a great Saturday, Annie! Hugs, Barb
