The Rocky Road to Dublin

Hello friends. It is time for Saturday 9 and you can join in too.  This was written Friday and set to post on Sat. morning.

Saturday 9: The Rocky Road to Dublin (2008)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune?   Hear it here.

1) This song is about a young man who leaves home to seek his fortune. How old were you when you first moved out on your own?
It was when I married so I was 20.

2) He leaps onto a ship but the captain makes him sleep in the hold with pigs. Have you ever taken a cruise? (If so, we hope you had better accommodations.)
Well, a cruise around Norfolk.  I was sick the whole time.
3) This recording of the song is by The High Kings. Well established in Ireland, their career reached new heights in March 2012. Right after playing for the Lord Mayor of London's St. Patrick's Day celebration, they flew to Washington to perform for President Obama at the White House St. Patrick's Day concert. Tell us about a time when you were so happy, you had to pinch yourself to make sure you weren't dreaming.
 Nope, I can't.

4) This song was chosen because Friday was St. Patrick's Day. Do you celebrate this holiday?
5) Leprechauns are a symbol of St. Patrick's Day. These small Irish fairies are said to live in the forest, guarding their gold. Do you often wear gold?
I no longer wear my wedding rings since I am a widow now so, no.
6) McDonald's has made Shamrock Shakes a St. Patrick's Day tradition. McDonald's began adding the drive-thru window to their restaurants in the 1970s. Would you rather order from the restaurant counter or the drive-thru?
The counter. But I don't eat fast food at all so never going to come up.
7) A four-leaf clover is considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm?
No. Never even eaten Lucky Charms!
8) Thinking of Lucky Charms, they are magically delicious. What breakfast cereal is in your kitchen right now?

None.  I finished up the oatmeal (imported from Ireland) last week.
9) Random question: Think of your upcoming week. Which day will be the busiest?
I really can't say until it arrives and I recognize it.  I have no plans for the week.

  1. It's nice to have an open week many possibilities. On a day like today, my mind is going to what trail I want to hike next. It gives me something to look forward to!

  2. Hello Annie, enjoyed reading your answers! I don't have any lucky charms either, I don't believe in them and I've never eaten Lucky Charms cereal either. Hope you're having a great day.

  3. I hope you enjoy your open week. I have appointments I must attend to. Happens sometimes.

  4. I've never eated Lucky Charms either, and I don't believe my kids ever had them either. I know I wouldn't buy them, but if they had them they were someplace else. Not a fan of sugary sweet cereals. I don't know much about next week yet either, except we both have Dr. appts. on Monday morning and Bible study in the afternoon and I do PT on Wed. and Thursday, Choir practice on Tuesday night. I guess it's a busy week after all. LOL. Kind of a typical week actually. It's raining cats and dogs and Baby Sand Hill Cranes right now! Hooray they were hatched yesterday on St. Patty's day!! Have a blessed week whatever you do.

  5. Yum, Irish oatmeal is fabulous! I forgot about the dinner cruise I did on the James Rive. I wonder if that counts!!!

Please leave a short hello to tell me you were here! I love hearing from you. Thanks for visiting.
