October has been so pretty. It's been very cool, a bit rainy and leaves are changing color. I think October is a wonderful month don't you think so too? I remember the line from You've Got Mail:
“Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies."
Here's this weeks Sunday Stealing from Bev. This time stolen from League of Extraordinary Pen Pals
1. October reading & writing goals and plansRe-reading 44 Charles Street. by Danielle Steel2. Something I did that totally paid offI sold off a lot of my furniture including the top of a breakfront china cabinet but kept the bottom which houses my tablecloths and other things. I painted it black with chalk paint and it gave it a beautiful finish. It is totally different and classy looking now.3. I want to see this make a comebackKindness and love. Soda Shops...Drive in Movies...4. Generational traits I really valueI don't understand this really. Every generation is the same as the ones before. Look at what Plato said about teens of his day:"What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets, inflamed with wild notions." PlatoHow modern is that. Times change little. As Solomon King of Israel said: what was is and what is was and there is nothing new under the sun. 5. Changes I’d like to see in my daily environmentI would like a better kept yard and to get the necessary project inside the house done quickly and cheaply if possible.6. Favorite soup dishesI like Italian Wedding Soup, Potato soup, Chicken soup with matzo balls and cooked on a blech over night.. oh be still my heart. 7. Start with the best part, or save the best for lastYou can do either one depending on what it is. Or, you can do both if you have more than one good thing.8. The most chaotic part of my daily lifeI don't think anything is chaotic at all really.9. If I could only eat 10 things, I’d pickkishka made with crackers, beef stew, stuffed cabbage, tacos, spaghetti, Greek spinach pie, stuffed peppers, cabbage with beef sausage and potatoes,10. What Autumn feels like where I liveAutumn is chilly most days and nights but sometimes goes into the 70s for a day here and there. We get some lovely rain storms. The air is clean and crisp and refreshing with the scent of leaves, cedar trees, balsam pine and the sea. I think many feel more alive in autumn.11. The teacher who would be most proud of mePerhaps Mr. Chorney but I really don't know.12. My go to Halloween snacks & treats I like giving out little lunch sized bags of potato chips.13. 10 ways my life is great right nowI feel comfortable with my life right now and at peace with it as well.14. A perfect day indoors looks like…Playing the piano, reading a book online, painting a bit, having a lovely cup of butter pecan coffee, and making a lovely autumn meal.15. Pumpkin spice…Is lovely. I like it in coffee quite a lot. I have a lot of it for pumpkin pie etc. I plan on making some pumpkin cake and some pumpkin Crescent Roll rollups. Those are made with crescent rolls spread with pumpkin filling, rolled up and baked.

October and the joy of High School football games. |
The Plato quote is very useful in understanding that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
ReplyDeleteYum on the Pumpkin things, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to give out the little bags of chips!! We have about 1200 trick or treaters so I've bought lots of candy for them.
ReplyDeleteI went to a drive-in in LA when I was there. It was a strange experience.
ReplyDeletePumpkin spice in coffee? Oh dear - I don't think that sounds like something I would ever do.
:o)
Cheers

What is a blech? I looked it up and it says it's a tin covering. Is it like a metal crock pot?
ReplyDeleteIts a piece of metal you put over your gas jets to keep food hot or cooking all night. Now I use a crock pot, but years ago we used a metal hot plate on the stove.
DeleteThose crescent rolls sound delicious! I'm going to try that!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning to you all ! So nice to visit here !
ReplyDeleteCooler weather brings cravings for home made bread , thick savory soups and all the baking that Summer's heatwave made difficult !
Wishing all good health , peace , comfort and joy !
