Sunday Stealing.. joining in!
Driving across the United States coast to coast was one of the best experiences and decisions ever. It was reasoning. I knew that the US is big, but until you actually drive it, you have no idea how big. When you see the plains, the huge mountains, the width of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.. and wonder how the pioneers crossed them... it awesome and it is breathtaking.
2. What ONE thing would you change about your life? How would your life be different?
I would have taken things more seriously and spent more time in self reflection. I just sort of wandered around being me. Perhaps I would have made wiser choices in people, jobs, etc.
3. What is the hardest thing you have ever done? Why was it hard for you? What did you learn?
I have removed this answer because it is too personal.
4. What is your greatest hope for your future? What steps can you take to make it happen? I want to develop my character more and more. I want to end up as a good friend, a well remembered person/parent, etc. who contributed to and loved others. The first step toward is determination and the second is resolve.
5. If you can time travel, what will you tell your teenage self? I would probably have all kinds of advice for me but, being me at that age I would not listen to any of it because I would think I knew better and could handle things just fine, thank you.
6. Write about the most glorious moment in your life so far.
Having children and raising them, finding a strong belief in God. Taking care of my mother in the last 10 years of her life Knowing you did these things in love is a good moment. Neither my mother or my husband were good to me, but I was good to them. But, despite that, I did it. I really did it and that amazes me.
7. Write about a moment you feel brave. As a kid I was a social justice warrior who stood up for others, often to the point of getting myself in pretty deep.. I held my own and kept on keeping on. I didn't feel brave though. It's just that looking back I guess it was.
8. What made you happy today? Having a nice dinner with my friend of 35 years. We do that every week.
9. What do you dislike most about growing up?
That I am still doing it of course. If we are smart we never stop growing up. There is always more knowledge and wisdom to gain. We are never done!
10. Write about ten activities you love the most and why you love them.
- Train watching. I adore trains. I've watched them since my grandpa took me to see them every single day as a little girl.
- Sitting by the sea because its peaceful and cleansing of care and woe.
- Meals with friends because well, its with friends and good food!
- Going to favorite places like Prince Edward Island, the Pocono Mountains, New England in autumn
- Playing my piano because I love doing it so much.
- Painting new pictures. I use my own paintings as headers for my blog.
- Walking on the boardwalk at the beach... the foods, the scents, the people!
- Being able to meet people all over the world by internet. Its wonderful!
- Enjoying my fish pond... it is lovely to hear the waterfall, see the friendly fish.
- Preparing for holidays when the house is filled with people . I love the planning, the cooking, the preparation and finally the people who fill the house with joy.
11. Do you have an embarrassing moment that still makes you cringe? Write about it in as much detail as you feel comfortable!
Well, not much embarrasses me at all. I live in the real world and things happen there for and to everyone. I lost my panties once in a theatre,. I suppose the elastic broke in the waist band. The lobby was so jam packed, however that no one could see. I just moved on along and never looked back. I lost a bikini bottom in Miami when I was 21. The surf just pulled them right off. My husband was able to find them though but, if I had to walk out without them I would have and not cared too much. Things happen as I said. If people don't understand that's their problem and they need to lighten up a bit.
12. What has been your best trip so far?
Driving up through New England and Canada to get to Prince Edward Island. We stopped at Walden Pond of Henry David Thoreau fame and a few other literary places. It was lovely. However, again, driving across the USA was beyond amazing to me. I will never forget it.
13. Write a list of 5 things (physical or personality-wise) you love about yourself, and why they make you unique. I can only list what others tell me
- I have nice green eyes they say
- I am smart with a rather high IQ... I have them fooled I suppose
- I play piano nicely I suppose
- People think I am pretty
- I was always very athletic.
14. Discuss 5 things you wish others knew about you.
- I have never knowingly hurt someone
- I always want the best for people
- I am very reserved and "proper". I clean up nicely.
- I am a rather good cook and homemaker
- I am rubbish at making small talk.
15. Is social media a blessing or a curse? It is both. It is what we make of it in the end.
...and I knew all those things about you Annie. smiles
ReplyDeleteYes - the US is huge. I've been threre of course but only seen a fraction of it. Driving across would be a good thing to do I guess. I'm not overly fond of driving though so maybe I would take the train.

Answering the questions really makes you think. I don't know if I could be that open or if I even know the answers to most of them. I just take each day for what it has to offer. I'm blonde...that might answer some of the questions. How neat that you have green eyes...my sister does too and it's very unique!
ReplyDeleteBeing good and helpful to those who are not the same with us is difficult. I applaud you for that. I did the best I could for my mother when she was dying but to many people it was not enough (they told me so). But it was, indeed, the best I could do.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning ! I cared for my mother , who had a degenerative disease for the last nine years of her life and worked as a Certified Home Health Aide for eleven years thereafter . I can tell you that , in my experience , those who voice the loudest opinions and condemnations of our care of family members are those with the least investment in said care ...funny (NOT funny) how that works . Your mother knew the immense value of your love , time and abilities on her behalf and so does God...and that , my dear , is all that matters !
DeleteYes, the US IS huge. I've only been to 31 states so far.
ReplyDeleteAnd I HOPE I never stop learning.
You did an excellent job of answering all these questions! I don't believe I could've made it all the way through! Thank you for being so open! And yes, you are very intelligent and talented...music and art go hand in hand I understand...you are blessed to have both. And yes, being kind and loving to people who have not been kind and loving to you is difficult, but what you were able to do may have changed their hearts and lives in a deeper more profound way. It's always wise to "err on the side of love and caring". Love the stories about losing your panties/bikini bottoms. That would be quite embarrassing, but you handled it with dignity. Thank you for a delightful and interesting post.
