Spring has Sprung , Tues 4

Happy Tuesday friends.
All my favorite online weathermen are predicting a hot and humid summer for the Atlantic coast, a week of heat for the north but with a prompt reuturn to winter and for the south a broiling hot cauldron of heat.

We will see how that plays out but for now here is my own contribution to Tuesday 4.

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4/

Spring has sprung as they say and sights and sounds of winter have given way to those of springtime. With each season even the feel of the sun and wind changes and people may also have a change of attitude or a change oe heart.

1.  Many of my neighbors have chickens.  Have you ever raised them for fresh eggs or is the grocer your go to for them? Also.. would the sound of a neighbor having them bother you?

I really am not much bothered by animal noises in the neighborhood.  I find them comforting in a strange sort of way.  Barking dogs in the night are especially comforting to me unless they are too close and too much.  What I do find annoying are  leaf blowers that go on and on all day long with some people.   I think for many men it's a cool toy they enjoy using.  I am not fond of people with loud mufflers, motorcycle noise either.  They seem to love making noise in quiet places.

2.  How does the change in seasons effect you personally? Are you happier in some seasons , do allergies get to you, do you perk up or down due to weather?
I do have some Spring allergies to pollen and I do have a problem with dust as well. My dust allergy means that I can only buy the tissues with Vicks or lotion.   Before I realized it, I would cough badly after using Kleenex or Puffs, the plain kind.  They made  a cold worse!  Then I discoved that the Puffs with lotion or Vicks were not as dusty and worked really nicely for me!
I try to feel good  about things no matter what the weather and really its only the barometer falling that bothers me a lot as far as my spine goes.
I have come to enjoy all the seasons and evry kind of weather and I do feel it's important to do that.    We wish time and life away by always wnating something else and by failing to fall 'in love' with what we have.   I try to find some good in every day.  I simply got tired of wishing the seasons away quickly and of not being able to appreciate it all.
Some put ceiling fans on their porches so it's easier to sit outside in summer. Now, they make celing fan light bulbs that screw into the socket!   If you have an overhead light, just place on it and turn it on.  I think that's so cool.

3.   This week our youngest family member is in France.  She will see Paris, Provence, the Riviera, all very exciting for a young teen.    Most of us don't ever do anything that big...but even the smallest things can have a big effect on  us.  What experience  do you think stands out  most for you in your memory?

I really enjoyed driving across the USA.  It was a great advenure.  All the way we saw the routes of the pioeers who built this nation.  It was amazing.
Two trips to Prince Edward Island and a long visit to the Green Galbes house, long walks on Lover's Lane were also among by great memories.

4.  What do you look forward to in each of the year's seasons?

In Spring it is nice to see the new flowers and hear the sound of rain on the roof.

Summer is wonderful for the beach and the boardwalk, the creek behind me and the Fourth of July with fireworks on the bay and over the ocean.  The breeze on the beach at night is heavenly and the scent of salt air is strongest here in summer.. how I love that!

Autumn is very special... I love the broody dark feeling of the early evenings and the countdown to Halloween.  It's not Halloween per se.. It's the ambiance of chilly days, orange and red trees, wind in the trees, owls hooting in the woods.   Dark academia seems so right at that time.   Its a time for hot tea or coffee ,a pot of hot chili or beef stew, and wonderful soups.   I love the trappings of fall from the wet fallen leaves glistening the street lamps and headlights of passing cars to  a stop at a local cafe for Pumpkin spice coffee and apple pie.
In Winter the joys of Chanukah and Christmas fill the world and the silver skies are glorious.   Winter is a good time for wrapping up in a flully afghan for an afternoon nap.    I adore winter clothing: hats, boots, scarves and cozy gloves are perfcct for a walk in falling snow.  It's joyful to be warm inside and watch the wind blustering through the branches of the trees.  Winter is a Hallmark card, a Hallmark movie!!

If you've joined in this week..thank you.  It went up later than usual because of the holidays.  It's not to late to join in.  You can do the Tuesday 4 any time at all and the more the merrier.   If you need something to blog about please consider using Tuesday 4 for prompts. Any one of the questions can become a whole post!

  1. Thank you for doing this each week, Annie. I always enjoy reading your answers as well as those of our friends who participate. I just got mine up. You are blessed to live where summertime is so pleasant. Unfortunately here in Florida summer is our least pleasant season, unless you have a pool or live by the sea perhaps. But we enjoy the rest of the year immensely!! Have a wonderful rest of your springtime!!

  2. I agree that we should embrace each season as it comes along, Annie, and never wish that time away. There is something beautiful in each one, and I'm grateful to live where I can actually experience all four. Blessings!

    1. This has happened before and much closer than this. The sky here at night was red with flames and black in the day. Evac were just a block away from me then.

  4. Sorry you are having a huge fire. I know what that feels like. We usually get the winds in the fall and CA is known for fires. There was a big one while we were on our cruise, but it was an hour away. We only had to prep for evacuations once when we lived in the hills. Not we are in the city. I sure hope they get things under control our there. Praying for you.

  5. I'm checking in to see how you are and if you're affected by the wild fires. By the sound of the comments they aren't affecting you. I'm praying for you and all involved. Hugs

    1. My whole house smells like smoke. The fires are very close to me but we avoided evac but many friends had to leave. They are still burning with 15,000 acres now gone. I woke up coughing and chocking with the smoke this morning at 4 AM
